Latest Gen Ipods work in 2010 Sport??
I'm sorry because I'm sure this is answered already but after 30 minutes in search, I will accept the critique!!
I just bought my 2010 Fit today and my MP3 is not supported thru the USB. I checked in the manual and they only list up to 3rd Gen Nano.
My question is, since I'm an older than dirt fart who knows diddly about ipods
; are the readily available 4th and 5th gen supported??

Thanks Buddha, I went to BestBuy this afternoon and the guy running the ipod section had a new civic and was using his 5th gen nano in it, so I bought one from him, set it up, transferred my entire library (only 4 gigs) and it works GREAT!
It really sucks to have a 60k Porsche and a 16k Honda daily driver with a ten times better stereo!

Yeah I really like it. Seems like just about every car has an aux input into the stereo now. My wife has a cheap chevy ('07 i think) cobalt with a horrible stereo but it still has a plug on the front to string an ipod into. All the aftermarket stereos I chose from for my old civic had an aux plug. What I like about the fit is that I can hide the ipod in the glove compartment and control it from the stereo, and not have to see it. I just wish that there was a more efficient way of finding artists/albums/songs. God forbid I want to listen to the Who and have to scroll through 150 bands to get to them. I drive a Sport-MT, so I don't have the nifty automatic stereo.
Still, I really like the stereo.

its a simple software fix too, if only somebody at honda would actually do it.
I do playlists for stuff that works well in the car, and depending on what mood I may be in, and then select the list I want to play. I go through my artists list in itunes (or Creative for my Zen) and pick one from each artist at a time so that it's really like listening to a radio station that only plays what I like and what I'm in the mood for, without any DJs or commercials.
After a while I've learned to think about the tune I selected and try to pick one from the next artist that will sound good after it. I had so many in my Zen (have used it with sound-quelling headphones on planes for years) I had to delete all the old ones because they no longer could compete with my newer playlists.

You can also make smart playlists that organize blocks of artists (A-G, H-L...) so that you skip to the general area pretty quickly. It actually works pretty well.
Also, if your iPod/ Phone doesn't work for some reason, just perform a hard reset and try again. It sometimes doesn't work after an OS update.
As for your porsche, can't you just get a iPod cable installed? If not, how about an aftermarket stereo with an aux jack, at least?

I guess the sound system, in general, may sound okay with a fat Viking woman singing Wagner........but it sounds like sh*t with any music I like. It sounds like hte speakers just have a crappy inherant sound to them, but others have put what they know to be great speakers in the cars and the system still sucks, so it's the electronic signals coming from the amp. The intake and exhaust notes of that great 3.2 engine are so sweet, especially with the top down, I wouldn't spoil it anyway, even if you could hear the stereo at anything less than about 120 db.
On the Boxster forum (986 Forum.com) about half of those who list the options and mods of their cars end the list with "Crappy Stereo."
When I was shopping for used Boxsters/Caymans I wanted to hear both the standard stereo and the very expensive Bose system option. The salesman I became very good friends with said let's first hear what you're used to, so I sat him in my CX7 Mazda and let him listen to the Bose optional 9 speaker system in it. After about 30 seconds, he said I wouldn't like either of the Porsche stereos.
The stereo in my Fit is quite adequate, especially for a car that cost a little more then half what the Mazda cost and one fourth the Porsche price (new, not what I paid).
