Fit Acceleration Tips?

My 2010 Fit (stick) seems very slow to get up to a decent speed. Any tips for entering fast moving traffic from a dead stop?

Just floor it and wait till the rev cut.
Throttle response is slow, you can't make anything for this, drive by wire sucks.

We barely feel the kick.
The only nice thing with the short gear is that when you floor it on the highway, you quickly bounce the rev limiter in 4th gear and then see how fast you are already, before you up shift (or slow down).

An elise with 3 more hp is pretty fast already.

The echo hatchback has 105hp and is a blast to drive imo (more low end than the fit and throttle cable).

Obviously. I just said that because it's not slow because of it's "only 117hp" but because of the so-so (not bad either) power to weight ratio, and lack of low end and throttle response.

Fit Acceleration Tips?

The Fit is my first stick. In downshifting, I know you can skip gears. I guess the same is true in upshifting? Are you saying that if I accelerate to 4th gear speed in 1st, I can shift directly from 1st to 4th?

If you drop more than a gear (or even upshift 3 gears in one shot) you should double clutch to save your syncros.

Elise has 189 hp, way more power than the Fit. Fit is an economy car, so it isn't a fast car. Having said that, I find the acceleration to be adequate in first gear, but at higher speeds it isn't very fast. Of course, I am comparing it to my other cars.

About the same horsepower, with ~3 secs 0-60.

The elise mk1 made 120hp. The mk2 is chubby and pointless.

Wild Bill, I see that you are either a very early riser or don't sleep very much... Is aches and pains your reason also? Amanda isn't wild at all, she is really a very level headed person and slightly subdued in person. She isn't at all like you and me except when it comes to her appreciation and love of things with wheels... I wish I was able to give you a hand with that throttle controller or at least be able to tell you how to get it working... I guess I had better try to get a little bit of sleep, I have to do 200 miles of driving for another medical appointment at the VA hospital in Dallas this time.

Try to quicken your shifting - so you get to maximize the momentum and lessen the time spent not pressing on the throttle.

Other than that, there's nothing much you can do. Acceleration isn't one of the Fit's strong suits. Maintaining built-up momentum is. Drive accordingly.
