What motivates/inspires you to modify your jazz/fit?

This question has repeatedly crossed my mind whenever I am considering getting new parts for my Jazz, fortunately when I purchased my car, most of the modifications were done already. However I can help but always think that this is a waste, because at the end of the day it is just a Jazz... I appreciate the car in every sense and especially because it's my first car it has a special place in my heart, it really packs a punch for a little engine and throwing it around great ocean road was one of the most joyus times i've had. But sometimes I just can't help but feel that I will let go of it in the near future and all the time and money I've put into it will go to waste. I suppose if I had a true sports car ITR, Skyline, Silvia etc. I would be more inclined to go all out, but that is the question I pose to fitfreak! "What motivates/inspires you??

I've never had any delusions that my Jazz will be a match for even remotely sporty cars in terms of "raw material." I basically do what I want with it. In the end I just enjoy wringing every last RPM out of it. In doing so it's also taught me how to drive fast, and not just rely on the machinery.

My philosophy with modding the Jazz is not to bring it too far from stock, only to expose the inherent goodness of the car and enhance it further. Limited finances are also a huge factor though.

Not sure if this is the sort of answer you're looking for...

i modded my gd3 to make up for its shortcomings -- minus the obvious lack of power lol. it's already a great car so i didn't have to do much to enjoy it further.

if you think the mods to your jazzz were a waste of money, try going back to stock and see if you miss any of it. i know i missed my coilovers, rear sway bar, x-bar set up, wheels, and throttle controller (usdm gd3's came with shitty drive by wire) once they came off.

I modify my car because I take pride in my car, my car is not a shitbox and I want my car to be a representation of who I am and what I like. I don't do things because they are trendy, I do them because I enjoy the way they look, function or perform.

If you think you are wasting money by modding your Fit/Jazz because you know you'll be picking up a different car down the road, I would recommend starting to save up and research what things you would want to do to that car.

I had (still have somewhere) a "blueprint" of everything that I would ever do to my Fit made up months before I took delivery of the car. The fun in modifying cars is seeing how you change your plans based on availability of parts.

im happy with how my GE looks, but the GD needed help so lowered and got wheels.

GE could use some help in the exhaust/intake tone department though...

i suppose it's easy to sell in the U.S as there is such a high demand, however in australia (which is where i am situated) there are only a limited number of modified jazz's and offloading parts is a very financially disheartening event.

The need for speed is my motivation. I know that it is just a Fit but unless you have the money to purchase a Bugatti Veyron anything you are going to buy is just whatever it is and nothing more.... There are a lot of fine automobiles that depreciation cost exceed the purchase price of the Fit/Jazz before the note is paid off.... I plan to own and drive mine until it is dead or I am, which ever comes first.

It probable started with STTICH's Fit. His car was the first cleanly modded Fit I saw and that is when I fell in love with the car. The rest came form inspiration from this site or just my own personal taste. I would say also that about 5% of the motivation also comes form the positive comments I get on my car. Obviously Im not modding my car so that every one will love it but when I get people outside of the Fit community telling me they like my car then I must be doing something right.

To make it my own. To also put some creature comforts to it and make it look how i think it should look. Its alot like the place you live you make it comftorbale for you and how youre style is the Fit is the same to me

I modify my car to make it more useful like nice floor mats so cleaning will be easier, better all season tires so I can make it through the day safer with better gas mileage, better air filter so I do not have to keep on buying a new filter every oil change or maybe even an air intake for the reason of hoping to get a better fuel economy, center console, rear bumper applique for scratch prevention when loading big items, cargo cover is a must and cargo tray is a nice thing to have and much more that is useful.

I do not mod my Fit to make it faster(it's not a race car) or to make it handle better(it already handles good stock) but only with useful mods and not to impress others. No offense to anyone but if I will be modding a car and wanna be fast with good handling, I will choose something that has balls like what the OP said ITR, Silvia(drifting), RX7(93+), Supra TT(it is now a little bit affordable), VW R32, MR2 Turbo(91+), 1990-1993 Celica GT4, Lancer Evolution and so much more. I'd even consider an older 5.0 mustang, Camaro Z28(98+) and a WS6 TransAm if I am in the route.

What inspires me, is it keeps the youthful spirt alive in me. LED's and thump'n 12" P1 are in the works for the next mods.

I don't get it.... You would spend money on modifying an older second hand car that offers speed and handling from the factory and otherwise is impractical for daily driving rather than adding to the performance of a very practical car that you rely on daily.... I feel like I have it all in a neat little package that takes up very little room in the barn..

Okay, ever since I bought my Fit I've heard this occasional whisper saying "If You Mod It, They Will Come".

Well I don't know who the hell "They" are, and I have floormats, side moldings, a center console, cargo try and a cargo cover, I wish the voices would just leave me alone!

I can relate to that. Driving barefooted helps quiet a bit.
