car wash: fit vs legacy

Took the cars to the wash the other day. I know I'm comparing automobiles with different philosophies and price points, but here are some random thoughts.

there is lots of room to in the fit to get the vacuum in between the seats, etc. The subaru has cracks and spaces that I simply can't reach with the vacuum. However, I do like the smooth flat surface of the subaru's dashboard, more than the angular chunky top of the fit's dash.

The upholstery of the fit isn't nearly as difficult to keep clean as I was initially concerned with. However, the quality of the subaru's interior is unquestionably nicer. Also on the fit, the flap that covers the gap between the folded down rear seats and the cargo area, is starting to show wear from me sliding stuff into the back. This flap may have been better off if it was uncarpeted plastic?

My subaru oem all weather mats cracked where the floor bends upwards, and never did a good job keeping the salt water from splashing into carpeting. I'll be replacing those with weathertech liners. However, my fit's weathertech rear floor liner doesn't reach far enough up under the front seats, and I had to clean dirt off of the carpeting.

The wind noise from the car wash's blow dryer sounds like the fit is going to get ripped apart. Comparatively, I hardly notice that noise in the subaru. I always felt the subaru was a quiet ride, especially for its price point. The noise difference between the two cars is quite dramatic.

I love my cargo floor liners! Both are oem.
