heater selector not working right

My 2007 fit was working fine then the heater selector would not work on the defrost selection. It works on the floor and the vents that shoot air towards you and on the sides, in the dash. Works fine on all speeds. Air conditioner works. Outside air and inside air works. Just no defroster. Was wondering if anyone has had this problem?

no issue on my 3yr old car, but sounds like your hvac cable is either worn or needs adjustment.

you can remove the glove box completely and check to see if the cable is attached correctly. check the stereo section (ICE) at fitfreak as you need to remove the cables in order to swap headunits. you'll see picts of how it's done.

thanks for info. I took the car to dealership. They may cover this on warranty. If not I will remove glove box to see if cables are attached correctly. thanks

yah, i remember breaking one of the knob assembly during my HU install following crutchfield's botched install instruction sheet. hahaha. had a hell of a time looking for the small ball that is spring loaded inside the knob assembly.

i ended up fixing it using very tiny screws. it's possible that your knob assembly needs to be replaced as that spring and ball could wear out as well. it's a very low tech system so should be a easy find for the root cause.
