When did your Fit have its first Oil Change?

I won't enter this debate but would pose the question...if you had to buy a used car with all things equal but the oil change frequency which would you buy? The car that had it changed every 3000 miles or the one that had it changed every 10,000 miles? Be honest, now.

I have kept a toyota tercel to 203,423 miles doing this with no engine repairs, so don't tell me it is to keep the engine in good condition.

I had a Citroen GS with a 1015cc air cooled motor that stated that oil changes should be done at every 1000 kilometers right in the owner's manual. Of course, Citroen and Total Oil had ties back in those days.
I have changed all mine gas/diesel water/air cooled import/domesticated in the 3-5K mile range unless something strange (engine rebuild/replace head, etc) then shorter for that and never a problem for many many years.

For older cars, I'm an advocate on frequent oil changes. My dad bought his '79 Volvo brand new and always changed the oil every 3000 miles. I did the same when I inherited it, and the car still has the original engine and transmission with 240k+ miles, and neither has been rebuilt. Still running great!

I just changed my oil at 7200 miles and the minder said my oil was at 15% of it's life. I have always waited til around 6000 miles to change my oil and never had a problem with my car as a result of that. I just gave my Sentra with 180k on it to my fiance's daughter. She loves it and it runs as good as the day I bought it.
FYI, I put the PureOne filter on and Castrol 5w-20 in it. I like how the manual says not to overtighten the drain plug.... I thought I was going to have to get out the breaker bar to get mine off the first time.

In my Accord I change my oil every 3 to 4k miles and I use Mobile 1. Because of the weak AT in those cars (... and in the van as well) are having problems holding together (hence the 7 year 100k mile extra warrantee) I make sure my oil is changed approx every 3rd or 4th oil change: hence no broken tranny!
In my Fit I will probably change AT fluid once a year and by the second oil change will go to Mobile 1. Mobile 1 really only needs to be changed twice a year by the way.

guess ill throw my .02 in
my Fit has 3400 miles on it with oil life at 60% and the oil in it looks waaaaaay cleaner and clear than the oil in my 97 del Sol (which i did an oil change about 1100 miles ago.) so these be some clean burning motors.
i think ima do the 4-5k routine on the fit. only seems right and the oil should never go down to 50 %

oil change after 700 miles break in?
Do any of you get a oil change rt after the break in?
I wanted to do that, but the salesman told me that Honda put those special break in oil for the car and recommend to change after 5k miles.
is that true?

The salesman is right. Do not change your oil after break-in miles. There were alot of s2k owners that changed their oil after 1k miles and suffered from oil consumption. Just use the oil life indicator on your gauge cluster to determine your oil change. 5-7k sounds right.
