Well thats not exactly apples to apples, and I don't think anyone here can even afford the >85% toluene fuel they made that on.

Also, "they" were using large single turbos and >70psi boost during qualifying runs.

BMW, Honda etc. did this in the 1980's you are right. But those were F1 cars...

But with ~$1300 in internals and 1-2grand in other supporting bits like fuel pump, ECU, injectors, regulator etc (dependant on final goals)... 300whp is not unreasonable for an L15A.
