This is my first post, but I have been reading the message boards for months, and have found these discussions very useful. I'm looking for advice in finding the cheapest way to fix my Fit after knocking out the rear glass and putting a small dent in tailgate after a recent mishap in a parking lot. I've had estimates ranging from $1,800 for a new tailgate and rear glass to $1,300 for banging out the dent on tailgate and replacing the glass. One body shop recommended to me that I may be able to find a used tailgate on the Web, and install that part and paint it for a fraction of the cost of replacing with a new tailgate or putting new Honda glass on. Any advice on either a place where I may be able to find a salvaged tailgate or a site that offers a good deal on replacement glass for tailgate? Thanks much,

Perhaps call around to local dumps in your area. I know that in my area they sometimes have old cars hanging around you can buy parts off of. Problem with the fit is they havent been around (in the US) all that long so there aren't likely to be a whole bunch laying around...
