Question Less inclined to modify?

Before I got my Fit I was all over them internets researching modification options. Now that I've got it I find myself actually less inclined to modify it for increased performance. It seems like it might already have plenty of power and cornering limits for my need(s and I like it quiet). Then again, after 'graduating' from driving school for my vintage racing license, I realized that I didn't want to be a racecar driver so my experience might be unique.

How about you fellow Fit-ers: Now that you have your Fit are you still going to mod it? Are you more or less likely to do so after having it for a while? (some of you probably hot rodded yours before you finished the first tank of gas!)

I have parts already on order so I guess I disagree...

Very minimal for me:

Installed a Fujita CAI
Installed a Cusco Front Strut Tower Bar
Upgraded to 16" wheels and tires
Waiting on the Fujitsobo Wagolis axle back exhaust to show up

That should be good for now.

Everything else is cosmetic:
Window Tint
Clear Bra
HID headlights and fogs
waiting on the LED Tailights and Brake Lights from Canada.

and if I really get crazy - some sort of turbo kit down the road.

Has the CAI made much difference?

Check the Fujita website for dyno results.

I love the way it sounds now!

I don't want to change the Fit too much in performance, being smog legal is a pain in the butt, maybe a intake or exhaust. But I do want to change the styling, Dash kit, transmission knob, new wheels and tires, cf hood. Nothing that gives it the appearance of rice attracting police attention, just a little touch of style.

Yeah I really have no inclination to mess with it. Honda made a good product I don't really want to rice it up for 5hp or whatever. I hate the fartcans anyways.

I'm not going to do as much as my Tiburon, which has headers, cat, catback exhaust and an intake.

I think with the Fit, I'll just go with a CAI, nicer looking/sounding muffler, and some lightweight wheels. I don't want to butcher the fuel economy. Oh, I will also tint the windows pretty dark.

How is around town and freeway cruising? Can you hear the intake? I dont mind intake noise on accel but I hate intakes that drone at freeway and cruising speeds.

I actually really like the car how it is, put some wheels on it and waiting for springs to come out but that is all cosmetic not doing it for performance. Its a unique situation though, wifes car and the car we drive all the time when we are not at work. I am a professional level drifter (Formula D Licensed) and daily drive my race car (only drive about 3 miles to work) so I dont want another race car I want something comfortable and quiet that I can enjoy driving. Mod list will include nicer wheels (order from japan need to wait till I lower it to measure for size/offset), window tint, might 2-tone interior vbp, lowering springs, and thats about it. Then exhaust and intake if I can find a setup that isnt too loud, dont want to hurt fuel economy or comfort but wouldnt mind an extra 10-20hp.

Edit: car is def fun to drive stock and I would even take it to a couple of open track days, and encrouage my wife to auto-x or track it.

Intake, header, exhaust (all must be CARB legal), and probably some springs/shocks for a conservative drop to try and keep a somewhat comfortable ride. I really like the HFP rims too.

You can really hear the intake on aggressive acceleration and at freeway speed if there's any drone, I can't hear it whatsoever - windows rolled up or down. It's nice.

more air helps emissions! An intake will NEVER hurt your emissions status!

Wrong. how's a 10% increase in power on a 96-00 Civic DX for ya? Yeah, I didn't believe either until I saw the same car dynoed with the stock box and an AEM CAI.

10-15whp gains on the TSX and TL.

Usually they help just a bit, but some cars have horrible intakes designed to keep the motor quiet.

I will probably start with lighter wheels, mostly I'm going to change things that will improve drivability with the aim to also improve mileage. I'll keep things simple, if I do an aftermarket exhaust I want something that breaths well without the noise. Give me something quiet, I don't need to attract any attention

go find me a d15y7 that gains 10% whp on any dyno with a cai, hell, i'll even accept a bloated dynopack.

tsx and tl? at least try the k20a on the rsx.

some car indeed do have horrible intake design, yet a longer tube, a bigger filter, some colder air is not going to gain you 10% whp.

so usually, they do nothing, other then make noise.

In my 'experience', four cylinder engines don't benefit as much from a CAI as a 6 or 8 cylinder engine. With the Tiburon, people (like me) with the 6 cylinder, were seeing HP gains of 12-15, and 4 cylinder owners were seeing more like 5-8.

I doubt a CAI on the Fit will rate a 10% improvement on horsepower. I'd bet it would be in the 5-8hp area.

Still, not bad for an inexpensive mod. I'll still plan on getting a CAI. I am going to wait until I get to probably 5-6000 miles first. I want to try to get a measure of what my average fuel economy is, then do the mod and compare.
