Less inclined to modify?
after spending years and thousands of dollars modifying an RX-7..... my fit is staying stock as far as performance goes.
its a nice change of pace to actually, have a car that will get more than 15 mpg.
if anything, i would modify the lighting with HIDs

Oddly, 12000 miles later, I am starting to get the modification bug. I worry about 'difficult' dealers crying warantee foul on it all though. (yes, I know that they have to prove etc, etc. but it would still be a pain in the Biblical donkey.) I'm finally going to start with wheels. Wow, big step.
Very much love the car but wishing for a bit more 'passing power'.

I bought the Fit for what it is, an econobox, a nice econobox, but it is the bottom of the Honda product line. I'm sticking with comfort mods, coin holder, JDM passenger visor, etc.
Like other's here, I've got a different car for my racer fix, the Fit will never be the kind of sports car that I expect for track, AX , and "spirited driving".
I haven't heard of any aftermarket parts that actually deliver higher fuel economy. I believe that a Scangauge has the best opportunity for those kinds of improvements, but it works through behavior modification, adjusting the nut between the steering wheel and the seat.
The Fit gets OK mileage as is, some of the best available today; but I've owned bigger and more powerful cars that delivered the same MPG and similar cars that delivered 30% higher fuel economy.
I do like my Fit, I'm glad I bought it. But I am very clear about what it is, and what it is not. To me, it's a good cheap car.

CAI and catback only give power at the very top end. In most cases the gains are a few hp at most and not really noticeable, except the way they sound. There is simply no way you are gonna get 10-15 whp from bolt on mods on a Fit. 15 whp would be almost 20% gain over stock. Honda would do it themselves if it were that easy.
I think lightweight wheels, on a light car, would feel nice. But that's some serious money if you like <10 lb forged wheels like I do.

My Fit is only a daily driver for me. I added some stuff like dead pedal, floor mats and cargo cover but I'll save all my hardcore mods for my '75 280Z turbo. Right now I'm enjoying the near 35 mpg I get around town.
bumping an ancient thread...
I see a few people selling all of their aftermarket stuff on this board and going back to stock. Is it the noise/ride quality in the daily driver or just realizing the limits of the Fit as a 'performance car'?
anybody else who thought they would mod and ended up 'rockin it stock'?
