Ok guys its time to for me to get tires for the fit sport. I have been looking at tire rack and most of the 185 weigh less than the 195 plus it has a small foot print than the 195.

Has anyone put 185's on instead of the stock? And have you noticed a difference?

I put Bridgestone Ecopia ep100 195 tires on my 09 fit sport. Handles better than stock I think. although no increase in MPG. I get 29-31MPG. Also max PSI on them is 51PSI and I keep them at 40PSI.

Hey guys I got 185/60/15 Contintental Eco Plus LRR tires. My tires that I had on the car were 195/55/15 and they weighed 20 lbs. The new tires weight 16 and I notice a difference. I am on my second tank of fuel and I did notice that I went almost 20miles further on a tank of fuel. Will report further if the gas mpg stays like that. Or it could have been the driving who knows all I know is that these tires are quiet and the car seems to coast longer than before when I am in town.

Have a look at the Nokian EnTyre you may have to look around to find them. I have about 2000 on a set and like them. They are a green tire and really do seem to roll very easy.

 

I would just recommend going into a local Discount Tire and they should be able to help you find all the info you need. If they are not in your area you can visit Discount Tire Direct and they ship to your door.

 

If I lived outside of the snow belt this would be the tire I would get! Good choice.

However, how does your size choice compare to the stock size as far as revolutions per mile? I ended up with the conti DWS 205/50/16's and they're 3revs off from being dead on. I see you're on 15" wheels as well, so that makes a difference I guess. The DWS is .5# lighter than the stock 16" duns and I'm about to give them an 800mile thanksgiving test on the MPG. So far they're looking real good - 40MPG locally.

I'm running 205/50 15s and can't complain. Haven't put them through NOVA snow season yet though :-{

 

I also just put a new set of 185/60/15 Contintental Eco Plus LRR tires on my '07 Fit Sport. They are quieter than the oems and in my opinion feel better than the original tires. These are not quite as wide as the oems but I don't care.
I got them from Walmart (actually I ordered from their website and had them shipped to store for free). With mounting + balnacing+stems it was the best price around.

I'm hoping for maximum fuel efficiency and hopefully a 50-60k mile treadlife (was really disappointed that I only got 30,000 mi on the oem tires. I do not drive this car agressively, could care less about hot rodding it - I'm just interested in great gas mileage.

 

Keep us posted on how those tires work out.

 

Hey guys, I have had these tires for over 15k now and I still like them. They do make a little difference and down here in florida they handle well in the rain. I would get them again when these are worn out.

We have on several cars as well as 175's (175/65x14) and yes the narrower tire yields better mpg but 1-2 mpg. Choosing the right tire can also yield improved cornering. The footprint of a 185 and 195 aren't much different by wet pad tests. Its the reduced weight that matters unless you mount tires too big in diameter.

 

How do the 175s compare to stock? Big decrease in handling/grip?

 

As long as its not a ridiculous change, like more than 10 mm wider or narrower, its all about the brand and performance rating of tghe tire for buyers.
For manufacturers its all about marketing and pricing from suppliers. If buyers percieve 16" wheelks/tire are better for purchase reasons and price is not prohibitive, the 16" wins.
Use the lap times in TireRack.com to decide which tire you want; they're very good.

This is the lightest 15" tire I have been able to find in a 24" diameter. 175/65/15
