A little slow...

Im considering ording a fit within the next couple of weeks. Everything that ive seen and researched is what ive been looking for, good looks, space, etc. But the only thing that doesnt attract me is the 109hp rating. I currently have a 92 civic sedan at, , tell me about it. I kind of wanted my next pickup to be something with a little go to it.

I guess my real deal is does anything think that their fit is slow?

I should be test driving one within the next couple of days for my own opinion but i was wondering what everyone else thought.

Thank you for any help and I look forward to using this forum to its full potential along with making new friends.

P.S. Im also a fan of DUMPED cars (think vw's, eg's, and dc's). Why doesnt anyone slam fits? Is it a structural thing or something im not getting?

test drive it. It's quick enough when you take into consideration all the facts but slow is a relative term. Not everyone likes slammed cars so not everyone is gonna do the VIP thing.

It's fast enough. Don't think you're going to blow the doors off the next guy you're trying to pass if it's uphill, your AC is on and you have a nice headwind. I've hit triple digits already on my late night/early morning run home from work.

Don't let the horsepower number fool you. It has get up and go. "slow" IS a relative term. Next to a 'vette, yeah, it's slow. It's probably quicker than most econoboxes and minivans and large sedans.

If you want fast, get yourself the 5 SP Manual.
Try not to look at the Horsepower alone, look at the weight of this car as well. This car is pretty fast IMO.

Cheers

it has its pick ups...considering Hondas do well after you do the simples intake exhaust and header...i am sure with these mods the FIT will be very fun to drive other than being fun to drive...109HP well thats what you get...you will be smoking XAs and XBs

again thanks for all the replies.
the thing is ive driven swapped civics, and tegs. To me those are pretty quick imo. So going from around 180 crank hp to 109 is kinda a downfall

I always tell people it ain't the fastest in the straight aways, but I don't have to slow down for corners!

well at least you can modify the Fit with suspension parts and engine now...you dont have toi wait for parts...and in the future someone will come out with a swap kit for K20 power

iF yA wANNA gO fAST

If you really have a need to go fast, I've got a 1991 Z-28 with a LT1 I'll sell ya.

The interior is in really good shape (for 188,000 miles) and if you slam in a hypertech chip and a little N2O, it'll outrun damn near any thing on the road.

Of course, ya gotta be rich to feed that hog.

Feels about the same or faster than my old 127hp Civic if that helps.

The FIT really has no balls to speak of. It is slow off the line, my AT Sport can't scratch the tires, and wraps up the rpms quickly. If you want a speed demon buy another car.

Now why I bought a FIT...$15K, 31mpg+, 4 doors, Honda, ...and the little bird handles! I have rediscovered city driving in my FIT!

the Fit is no drag car...i see it as a track car with a tuned suspension and light modded motor having some fun on a sunday afternoon...you wont be able to "holds its own" until you swap that motor...your right dacalac i would not hope for street racing

I had to test drive the Fit before deciding if 109hp would be enough for me. It was quick enough and most important fun to drive. So I put a deposit down for one. I also want to take it to the autox to see how it handles. My S2000 is my main autox/weekend fun car. I haven't seen any results for Fits at the local SCCA events but I don't think it can beat the Mini in H-stock.
