Was wondering if there is a spare somewhere in the Fit? With all the folding flat seats, I was wondering if the spare (donut) is under the rear cargo tray.

 

yep - a space saver under the thin rear cargo area pad. didn't your salesman show you all that stuff? (or are you still a prospective?)

 

That made me think - my sales guy never showed me the spare. I guess he figured I knew so much about the Fit I'd know where it was.

 

I picked mine up tomorrow. When I test drove one, I didn't bother to check. Thanks.

 

It's just a donut spare...nothing fancy.

The cord that holds the rear tray up while you take the wheel out, however, is ingenious!

 

^LOL, I was kind of amazed at the cord on our Forester. I'm easily amused

I wish the Fit had a full-size, but then again, it isn't a full-size car

 

Need help here.....

Did anyone check out how bad a piece of junk is the factory jack? I got a flat tire today, and I started to lift the car, the jack started to dance like a cup full of jell-o. I just couldn't. Thankfully a friend of mine pass by with his mountain bike training and help me holding the car in place while I changed the tire. It was very frustrating. I measn, I shurely know how to do that stuff ( been there like a million times) so I know that I put the jack where it shows to put it, but it was the jack itself that doesn't work properly. I guess I'll have to go to vuy a better one.

 

The scissor jacks are meant to lay on a flat surface. Won't work well on dirt.

 

lIKE SAID BEFORE I have been there like a million times. It was in a level well paved bank parking lot. ( I would definitively NOT DO IT ON THE ROAD SIDE UNLESS I HAD NO OTHER CHOICE) There has been too many dead people hit by cars while doing this here in Puerto Rico. Anyway You're right. But I was in a flat nice paved surface. Also the jack by itself I notice that is not very well put together. Maybe it is just mine and I am generalizing.

 

I had a Honda tech tell me he would never use the jack that came w/my CRV. I called because the damn thing buckled on us while we tried to use it (on a level asphalted surface).
I'm guessing the Fit one is probably just as cheap, but maybe since it's a smaller car it won't come crashing down like the CRV almost did. Yikes!!!

 

Haven't tried the Fit jack yet but used my S2000, Prelude, and my friend's Accord jacks and while not great, worked for me to change the tire in an emergency. Of course I use my hydraulic jacks at home.

 

It was going to fell, but a passing by friend came and help me with the tire while I hold the fit in place.

Maybe i will have to use the jack from my old sentra b-13, with 200,000 miles, belive me that jack has already proove a good one

 

Yeah, the jack is a piece of junk. It slid and wobbled in a flat parking lot for me, too. I plan on getting a decent one at some point in the near future. At least I have a really good lug wrench. My little girly arms can't get a lug nut off of a tire with the teeny wrench they provide you with--no leverage.

 

Factory jack did the job for me the other night but its obviously only for dire emergencies. Wouldn't want to use it on a heavier car. Give me a hydraulic or air jack any day. Two pumps and its up.

 

My car pool buddy said on long trips he takes his floor jack. He's never been impressed with the one that comes with a new vehicle.

 

That is a mighty big weight to take on any trip! I would go with a better standard jack (and a AAA card just in case ;-)
