Headed for Japan

Hey FitFreaks,

About to start a trip to Japan.....expect to see lot of Fits (Jazz) there, and perhaps some models that we never get to see.

I will give updates a couple times per week...once I get there. I am not going into the north section.

I think they are called the Fit there also. Jazz is a European thing

In Tokyo

Hi FitFreaks,

We are in Tokyo now......a very nice Sunday here. We just saw an interesting vehicle....the Honda Spark. We have pics....and will try to load a couple up. It looks like a Fit, but less rear storage space, but the rear door looks larger...and it looks shorter. We have not seen one before. I believe it only has 3 cylinders.

As someone mentioned, the Fit does seem to be called the Fit over here. The energy reduction here in Tokyo is voluntary, but at 10:00 at night things go pretty darn black.

Hey Fitfreaks,

We just experienced our first earthquake. It was a 7.1. We are on the top floor....the 17 th..of our hotel. things were really swaying....it lasted for 25 seconds. A bit scary, but the locals here took it in stride.

Since then (5:17 p.m.), we have had two more....much smaller...but it still gets your attention.

We saw lots of Fits today, and also the world's largest Fish market.

pics of new fit in Japan

Visited the head office of Honda in Tokyo today. Saw the new Fit...it appears to have turn signal indicators on the side mirrors....something I approve of. Have a look...and notice the price in Japanese Yen.

Skinny Hondas

Hey FitFreaks,

I am still in Japan..now in Kyoto. We spent a few nights in some smaller cities, where the roads are not so wide. Honda makes many other vehicles here....about 2/3 the width of a Fit...they drive on these narrow roads and park easily. But we will never see them in North America.

I have this passion for great small cars....so I love what I am seeing over here. But.....still many big cars here as well......and lots of scooters.....we have one of those at home.

Still about 5 days left here in Japan....very calm in the south...the only quakes felt by us was 5 of them while in Tokyo.

Expensive car

I dropped into a VW showroom here in Japan today.....saw a very expensive product...the Touareg. They want 6.6 million Yen for this baby.

Volkswagen Interactive

That is in the 80 K region of dollars.....ouch!

I hope you stopped by Sushi Dai at Tsukiji market. I loved seeing the cars when I was in Tokyo earlier this year... so many Fits everywhere.
