If a tree falls in the forest.....
If a tree falls in the forest.....
it hits a Fit !!!
My daughter, who works at Duke University, pointed out this news story. Apparently it's the first time in recent history that a tree on campus has fallen on a car. And wouldn't you know.....
Fallen tree causes detours, damage | The Chronicle

My daughter told me that the driver is very upset that her Fit was destroyed and will buy a new one as soon as possible. Fits are so popular in the Chapel Hill- Durham area that you can't drop a tree without hitting one.
You can't see it in the photo, but the main truck (36 inches in diameter) came down right on the hood, crushing the engine to the pavement. The passenger was taken to the hospital but was not seriously injured.

Yeah, that tree was more than 100 years old. It fell just as the car was approaching. The driver slammed on the brakes and skidded to a stop just as the trunk came down on the hood. If the car had moved forward two more feet before stopping, both occupants would have been killed instantly.
