i really dont undestand how that miles/per gallon thing works
on that tachometer....it says i am getting 30-35 mpg
but when i look at the FUEL GAUGE it just DROPS down FAST...
i dont drive hard, in stop light i dont jack-rabbit. i always drive by the posted limit.
but still gas mileage is not good.
nothings wrong with cars electronics, or its engine ...its HOW IT EATS GAS...
will it help if i do a CAI?
any suggestions....
(does anybody know when the gas is going down)

Not seeing a real issue with the MPG, what's the average show most times?
You can watch the fuel gauge, but dividing the miles driven by the amount of fuel used will give you a real good idea.

With all those things you did, you should AT LEAST be getting over 30 mpg.
Like others have said though, what are you currently getting? Fill tank up, about 8 to 8.5 gallons. Divide your total mileage by gallons filled, easy.

I'm a quarter down on my second tank of gas.
452 Miles on the odometer, avg mpg according the ecu is 33.5. which is fantastic since I'm still in the break in period. Car is still stock. Only modification is the extra 200 pounds she has to carry when I'm driving.

Hey phenoyz,
Two things to help here. The reason the tank is going down quickly is because you are not putting enough gas in the tank. Once it clicks off, you can easily put another dollar or two in due to the long neck. Do that.
Also, if you increase your air pressure to 45 psi, you will see a very nice increase in mileage.
I drive in very high mountains all of the time, and over 3 yrs of driving I consistently get 41 - 43 mpg....this is on a manual stick, which I prefer.

Yes, I don't completely fill-up. I try to budget it $25/fill.
Its almost full anyways. Will try to do what you say
next time i fill-up.
With the tire pressure I think i will follow what is recommended which is
32psi. isnt it dangerous to put "MORE" air than what is recommended?
Thanks.

which is good. Too high a pressure and the tires break free easier.
does anybody knows the original spark plug for a 2009 Base automatic?
which is better DENSO or NGK
i might replace it and see maybe gas mileage will improve.

That thing is your friend - the Maintenance Minder. It tells you the MPG as well as when to change the oil and service the car. Read-up about it in your Owner's Manual.

Judging from your post your getting very good MPG (30-35 mpg). Your only problem is one of perception. Remember that the Fit's tank only holds a little over 10 gallons, (small even for its class). Add this to your not filling it up each time will give the misleading impression that you are using a lot of gas when in fact you are not.
Before you try to solve a problem you don't have with spark plugs, tire pressure, etc., learn to calculate your MPG as Krimson_Cardnal describes or at least judge your MPG with the right gauge which is the Maintenance Minder.
EDIT: The Tachometer is the gauge on your far left tells you your RPMs. The blue box directly in front of you is your maintenance minder

I changed out rims and tires and removed 70 pounds of rolling mass. This is my 2nd tank of gas and have seen a Huge improvement I've only used 1/2 a tank and am usually 150 miles, nothing to brag about for sure. This tank is at 210 at the 1/2 way point. I'll have MPG after fill up. But lite wheels and rims improve MPG in a big way! not to mention getup and GO!!
Also saw improvment w/ Mobile1 0/20 full synthetic motor oil and Mobile1 syn. ATF and hitest Exxon gas.
Big Mike
5/14/11 Filled up and m. div. into g. = 32.75 mpg around town! the best I've ever gotten.
I'm a Happy Dog!

minder says 30-35mpg. But it really doesnt matter because the
the fuel gauge just drops fast.
This is whats happening to me, from another member = https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/tell-honda/64698-poor-choice.html
Again, what is your actual MPG? That is, when you fill up, divide the miles driven by the gallons of fuel put in. If your actual MPG is in the 30-35 range, then I don't see the issue. The fuel gauge is dropping at the rate that it is because there's only an 11 gallon tank. How fast should the fuel gauge drop?
