Auto or Manual...
Auto or Manual...
I am in the market for a Fit and I am wondering what your opinions on auto vs stick are for the Fit. I have a 2000 Honda Accord manual now and I love driving stick but at the same time I kinda want a auto this time. Any of you guys have an opinion one way or another. Also please give a reason if you can. Thanks!

I'm a hardcore stick lover but i ended up getting auto on my Fit, and i've found its the most bearable auto i've ever driven. You can't really go wrong either way.

My last 3 cars have been manuals and my first 2 cars were autos. This time I got a Fit with AT because it would be my commuter car and I was getting tired of the rush hour traffic. My parents could also borrow my car if they ever needed it. Also, it's kind of nice to not have to shift anymore and if I miss the manual I can drive my other car. I probably wouldn't have bought the AT if it were not for the paddle shifters. I finally broke 600 miles and really got to drive my car. It's a lot of fun. I love manuals and if you love them too get the Fit manual.
Ditto most of the above: Love my AT Fit but would probably have gotten a MT if one was available. In case you haven't heard, you may not have much of a choice. MT is about one in five with long waiting lists in most states.
The AT in this car is tops in its class and the paddle shifters are fun. You can downshift easily when you need it.

The Fit AT is the best of both worlds: you can do automatic if you just want to cruise and let the computer do the work. If you want to have some fun, you can go into "S" mode and let the paddle shifters create manual fun. However, if you want the best gas mileage, go with the manual transmission.
There is actually like a 2second diffrence between the two for 0-60 times.. www.msn.com their auto's section shows the MT has 9.2s I belive and the AT has 11.3? something like that.. but I love the MT!!
get an AT, b/c you will be waiting months for the MT if you want a specific color. Honda is just not producing enough MTs. With that said, i'm still waiting for my MT model anyway. I felt a little too detached from the car with the auto.

I'd say:
Auto if you have to be in a LOT of stop and go traffic. No shifting to deal with.
Manual for any other driving situations. Manuals are easier to milk all the power of the engine out of, and also lose less of that power to the wheels.
