Farewell to the Fit
Gas will be more, but yeah I'm expecting that going to a car that pretty much has double the power of the fit. Same with insurance. But My car payments are going to be cheaper than what I'm paying now. Due to the amount of equity that I have in the fit and Honda's 1.9% APR deal going on... I'm single, I'm young and I'm in the military. I bought the fit before I came in while I was engaged and had the idea of it being a great family car. I am also going to be getting out of the modding scene. I wanted to find a car that I absolutely loved right off the show-room floor. The 2012 Si just happens to be a car that I love right off the show-room floor. And I have no intentions on making mods to it. Will I miss the fit? Of course I will. I'll miss the fit just like I miss all of my previous Hondas. Especially my 95 Si.

Hey DF, modding is a personal choice just like car decisions. Ask your dealer for a mil discount? Maybe your CUnion on base... More "power"
to you! Heheh... vets never die, they just get grumpier... and drive Fits...

No need to justify it to anyone... If it makes you happy, go for it. You'll always catch flak from people who can't afford it, consider it beneath them, can't finance it because they have to have mommy and daddy's approval and cosignature or are coattailing on their parents insurance. Enjoy the new ride man!
/also Military: 9 years and some change in the Air Force.
// also have some new vehicle fever of my own - there's a new 2011 Triumph Tiger 800xc in my very near future. I've got cash set aside to buy it, but I want to get moved first: a $11,000 motorcycle deserves an enclosed garage.
Very nice! There's no point in sticking with a car you don't really want. Well, except saving money, but if that's the goal, it's hard to justify the cost of a car when a bicycle or buspass is so cheap!

Oh, that was a bit ambiguous. I'm still in. 9 years and 2 months so far. I just reenlisted early (for retainability) so I'm signed through my 15 year mark. I'm pretty much invested as a careerist at this point!

In my days:
Navy: squid (amphibs - gator Navy, Navy/Marine air - airdales or brown shoes, Navy non-air - snipes or black shoes, Navy subs - bubble heads)
Airforce: flyboy
Marine: jarhead
Army: ground pounder
and the list goes on...
Ohhh the new Civic Si's tell us how it is when you get it.. but they don't come out during the fall.
I want a Civic Si 2000. I'm not a fan of the new Si's.. too many people have them like a lot of people have Scion TC's

Ummm.... The 2012 si is a brand new body style... Hardly anyone has them because they are an order only sale right now. Can't really see how "everyone" has one...
Just a mild refresh from the FA5/FG2, which in doing so they've managed to remove everything that makes the car an Si.
The 2012 is a completely different car. Not Like when the change the bumpers to make a new model year like they did with the integra and s2000..
The body styling is completely different...the engine is new..

I haven't seen the new SI.. I have seen a few ex models here and there and I don't really care for the new body styling very much and from the pics I've seen I wasn't very pleased but more power to you. I wanna trade up but I'll keep the fit for now
I've seen maybe one '12 coupe. It looks like a slightly shrunken Accord coupe to me.
The 2012 cars can't arrive fast enough for Honda dealerships. The one near my parents house in FL has 9 new cars.
I don't get the "I don't want a car other people have" sentiment that I see here sometimes. I mean, on a Fit board! Fits are everywhere! Maybe not in '07, but now, they are a dime a dozen.

I hardly ever see a Fit unless I am in the Austin area... We saw 6 of them between San Antonio and Buffalo one day... I got my car in July 2006 and it was 2 years before there was another one in this county and there was never more than 4 total at one time... There are more MINIS and Range Rovers here than there is Fits. I figure I will come out ahead by keeping the Fit, just improve the performance and handling when I am able and not get stuck with another car that would have comparable performance with higher insurance rates as well as more depreciation and interest rates if I have to take out a loan... After owning mine for five years, I still love to get in it and drive somewhere just to enjoy the car.. Every time I get out on the road in it I still get a good feeling.
