Does the Honda fit HAVE a governor or a black box (records your speed)
I think Honda fit has a governor because I cannot go over 110 mph.
If it does can I replace the chip
also does this effect car warranty.
please help
PS please donot ask why do i need to go over 110 mph.

They will not tell me if it does or does not have a black box.

I doubt its got a governer.. I know some people here have got their cars up to 115.. the only thing holding it back is HP!
Quoted from The 2007 Honda Fit Owners Manual:
If You exceed the maximum speed for the gear you are in, the engine speed will enter into the tachometer's red zone. If this occurs, you may feel the engine cut in and out. This is caused by a limiter in the engines's computer controls. The engine will run normally when you reduce the rpm below the red zone.

completly unrelated. you are talking about the rev limiter, hes asking about a speed limiter.Originally Posted by spreadhead

I thought the question was does the Fit have a governor (a device to the limit engine's rpms). The answer is yes.Originally Posted by NeverNZ

a governor is a device that limits car speed, not engine speed. He was asking if there was a device that limits the maximum speed of the car, not the engineOriginally Posted by spreadhead

Obviously you have never driven a governed truck.Originally Posted by NeverNZ

speed governor is not the same a rev limiter. I'm not sure if the Fit has a governor. With that much hp, I doubt it would need one unless Honda wants to keep the Fit below a certain max speed. And why would you want to drive more than 110mph?

Speed is limited for three reasons:
1. The speed is governed buy the ecu. (a pick up truck or V8 car)
2. You are in top gear and you hit the rev limiter (this would be at insane speeds for some vehicles)
3. Drag. your vehicle does not have the power to push your car past lets say 115 mph.
Oh and 4. your retarded and drive 110 mph on the Hwy and slam into somthing

Paulo: Three questions you might have already answered:
1. When you took the photo, or in subsequent runs, do you remember if there was anything left in the engine? It looks like you were only turning about 5300rpm or so.
2. How much did you drop your Fit. It looks sick.
3. How's the ride since the drop? What springs/shocks did you use.
Sorry, I guess that was really four questions.

All I'm going to say is make sure your insurance is up to snuff, make sure you don't hurt anyone else in the process of driving at that speed and be prepared to man up if you get caught by me or any of my boys at that speed. Not a threat ---> You'll reap what you sow.Originally Posted by billbob234
