New possible owner here

Hey guys, my name is luis and im currently in the market for a 2012 Fit. Now if only the dealership called me so i can go pick up a white one then i'd be happy. Anyways I currently own a 2007 Honda s2000 that im trading in for the Fit. I figured i need a little more room, something more practical. Since my s2k is almost paid for and its value is still great im using it as a down and only gonna finance like 8k on a new Fit Sport so i cant complain. I figured i'd hook something else up for now and then in 3-5 years get into something faster and bigger than the s2k. I was looking into a new sti sedan but with a wedding a few months away i dont think that was a smart move.

Since i know nothing about Fits besides that they look sick with a drop and some wheels imma be browsing on here a lot. Currently snooping around for some springs that give you the biggest drop so if anyone can help me out with that id appreciate it. I figured i'd roll on stock wheels till the tires went out then go ahead and buy some others with coils to go with em.

pic of the s2k for reference

That's a sweet S2K for sure and as much as I LOVE my Fit, I don't know if I'd give up the S2K for it although I understand why you are.

I've had my Sport for a little over 2 years and never get tired of driving it. It's peppy enough for me (it's 100% stock), is moderately comfortable, has everything I could possibly want as far as accessories are concerned, gets great gas mileage and has tons of room.

What more could one ask for?

sell the s2k yourself and pay cash for the fit!!

op- just keep your S2K and buy a used econobox...any crappy econobox with MT for your daily needs. it's a waste to sell your nice machine!

lol everyone is telling me to keep it. But lets start with, IM GETTING MARRIED :-(

I'd like to keep it but the biggest reason to why i wanna get rid of it is because of the money i can get for it. I owe like 13k and the dealership is giving me that plus almost 9k in my pocket. I figured i'd hop into a Fit and use that as wedding cash while doing a 24 month term and pay what im use to paying on the s2k.

I've really been debating about getting a new sports car and trading it in for something better but right now its not a wise choice with a wedding coming up. I figured i'd sell the S2K while the value is still good and get a Fit since i've always liked them. Then in like 2 years after its paid for keep the Fit as a beater (a nice beater) and then go all out and buy the sports car I really want. IDK im confused lol.

Getting married sucks, lol. But its a sacrifice I think I need to make just to make things more comfortable. I mean those 9k can be used as a down on a house! lol. My fiance is against it because she loves the car but I know i can buy another one or something even better down the road.

lol thanks.

the honda fit would be finance for like 8k if i used the money from the s2k as a down. If not then i'll do the Fit for a 24 month term for its full price and just throw the 9k im getting for my car in the wedding fund. (9K plus the 13k they are paying off is what im getting)

ahh, that definitely changes things immensely! congrats on the marriage! yeah, they'll be plenty of various cars to choose from in the future (possibly the FRS Scion? if you're looking for a budget sports car)

it sure does. Haha, thank you. I cant complain since shes not the one making me do it, i just want to make some wise decisions that i know will help us both out.

As for cars i was thinking more along the lines of something with an AWD Turbo that i can push it to like 4-maybe 500 ponies. lol. I've always been into sports cars and my first thought when i was getting bored of the s2k was to build up a new STI sedan or Evo X. But it would not be a wise move right now with whats coming up. Plus those two cars are only getting better with every new model that comes out so maybe in a few years it will be worth the wait. So i'll hold off on that. But till then, i wanna build a nice (all show no go) TW Fit. I've already filled my shopping cart with every accessory Mugen makes for them im just waiting for the dealership to locate me a white 2012 sport. I guess nobody in CA has one, but with money and a nice S2000 to add to the lot they sure are looking. lol

very nice, that's a very selfless decision you're making. from my experiences, sti's and evo's give a very vague, ill-connected feeling compared to the s2000, even in 400-500hp variants. you'll definitely enjoy the steering and handling of the fit and even though it doesn't have nearly as much HP as the s2000, the torque actually feels a little better

True, I cant compare the s2000's feel with some other cars ive driven, but the power and torque are lacking in the s2k, something Honda didnt do so well when they thought about it. For all the other cars in its price range its kinda lacking. Sure its a fun car but honda needs to hurry up and build a nice turbo awd car to compete with whats out there.

I also got that from other Fit owners. (here on the forum) everyone seems to say the Fit handles very nicely, and i see a lot of people with auto-x pictures and tack pictures so im assuming the Fit is a fun car. I've yet to really drive one especially a new one but i have gotten behind the wheel of an older model and it was nice. I just didnt push it because it was not mine. lol

the F motor is truly an engineering gem, mechanically, but you're right, honda needed to update the s2000 and stop relying on a car they designed in 99 to get them through all the years fortunately, it responds very well to forced induction. I see you're from palmdale, did you ever go to the s2000 meets in SFV? Paul (sarek) has a 500whp s2000 on 91 pump with a high flow cat in place. maybe a ride in that will help change your mind:P either way, you'll love the fit

Yeah they should have thought more about power and competing with others. As for the meets i did go actually, I know a few of the guys from down there and yeah ive seen his car. My plan for the s2000 was actually to supercharge it but another thing you gotta worry about is smog/legal issues with the cops/ leaving it outside and hope nobody steals it along with the 10+k you invested in the motor. lol. Its just hard, haha.

First of all... that's a sweet S2000. I'm generally not a fan of red cars that aren't Ferraris or something, but yours looks really sharp. Nicely modified as well, as it's a perfect drop. On my way to the office, I saw a yellow S2000 with a horrible drop with those badly cambered wheels (whatever that stupid trend is called)... made me want to puke. Yours is at the other end of the spectrum.

I currently have an Evo IX SE, and around this time last year, I was considering getting a Fit Sport as a DD as I had just paid off my Evo a year early. A girl in my office ended up getting one, and she let me drive it a few times. It's very practical, but for me personally, it didn't make too much sense, especially since I didn't need all that utility (or at least more utility than what I already had with my car, i.e. four doors and a good size trunk), plus my commute to work is very short (at the time it was a 7-mile round trip while now it's a 3-mile round trip), so fuel economy wasn't a concern of mine, so I kept my car and still use it as a DD, though of course I don't put too many miles on it and sometimes even walk/jog/bike to work.

With a wedding coming up, it might not be a smart idea to have the payments for either an STI or an Evo. If you need a lot of utility, then the STI wagon is a sweet deal, but the Evo is generally regarded as the better performing car between the two while being a whole lot more fun to drive. I can attest to this, as I've driven a lot of the various models throughout the years, and so can a lot of my friends who drive STIs. And if you plan on hitting higher hp numbers, it'll be easier (meaning less money to get there, fewer parts and greater reliability in the process) to do in an Evo.

Good luck with everything.
