Newsflash...Honda Fit Head-on Collision, news at 11

Here are two new links that just came on the wire:

http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/...s/14970219.htm

or this:
http://www.foxreno.com/news/9470506/detail.html
(this link has a pic of the Mashed up Fit)

Apparently, a 25 year old woman from Berkeley was driving her 2007 blue Honda Fit the wrong way in a tunnel, ending in a head-on with a Jeep. Both drivers were okay (the Fit driver broke a clavicle). But that poor Fit is now scrap metal! The Honda driver was DUI (typical).

Folks, don't drive your Fit drunk!

Even a 5-star safety rating won't save you from stupidity.

It could have been much worse, SUV versus Fit. I'm glad to know if anything were to happen to me while driving the Fit, I'd be safe.

How can you not realize your going the wrong way down a tunnel?
Better yet, how can the jeep still manage to hit em head on.. wouldn't they of hit their brakes or something..

driving drunk is the reason...i am not going to lie and dont want any bashing for this...i have driven drunk before and at least 2 times owning the FIT...i can say that i can count with my fingers the times i was under the influence while driving...anyway whether its one time or a million times its still stupid...i know that i am driving, but the minds becomes a blur...since then i have been more responsible with my drinking (i am not an alcholic), but i get loose sometimes and it gets out of hand...i love my FIT and i do my best to keep it and not get to wasted behind the wheel

Oh man Paulo! I must say you have no fear of the flames! Between this and your speedometer photo ! You're a glutton for 'punishment' here. (That hospitality industry will drive you to drink, if only because it is everywhere you look. Cuidado!) It is the Fitfreak confessional...

One account says the Fit driver reportedly passed out. The one with the picture says both drivers saw each other and tried to take evasive action. Which one was it? I'm glad the Jeep driver was okay. I am also happy to see the Fit performed in that situation as intended, although I would be lying if I expressed any sympathy towards the Fit driver.

Paulo, Paulo, Paulo. I am a reformed drunk driver (as stated in a different thread) who had the good fortune to have never hurt anyone else or gotten pinched. Be careful, be very careful. My wife got snagged for DUI right before our wedding, and the resulting financial nightmare was horrible (and that is the least of your worries - what if you hurt someone else's child). No flames, not much preaching, just free advice. Be careful. Besides, just imagine your fit looking like the one in the photo?!

I also posted a bunch of these in "Headlines" thread. The Fit did not have plates and the driver was arrested at the hospital. Maybe she got drunk and decided not to get on the waiting list for a Fit.

I hope she doesn't buy another Fit thinking that it saved her life....

I don't want people like that representing US Fit Drivers!!!

I wonder if she was on this board.......
