I just bougt a Fit.

So far I love it. Of course I'd love anything after coming off a 41 year old VW. Some of this modern electric/onic and power assist stuff still gives me the heebie jeebies, but I'm fundamentally a lazy man and will soon become accustomed to it.

I bought a base model because that's all I could afford but have some questions.

1) Does that spoiler thingie on the back of some models give better milage? If I scrounge one, how hard would it be to install.

2) I'm considering getting some of the fancy accessories out of the junkyards (when you drive an old car they become familiar), how many Fits are totaled in T-bone accidents?

3) I can't see the front of the car. This make parallel parking difficult. Any special tricks?

I'm sure I'll have more questions later.

As far as not seeing the front end of car, you will get a sense of size and distance pretty quickly. In fact, I did not realize I could not seen the front until someone else I knew got a Fit and asked me the same question. My biggest problem at first was scraping the front end on curbs because the front was so low compared to my Subaru.

Congrats on your new ride. Some answers to your questions:

#1 - Here's a thread that might interest you. Short answer, it's all for looks. https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...tml#post936324

#2 - Don't know.

#3 If you've driven a VW, the Fit should be no problem. If it hits you in the face then you're too close.

Enjoy your new ride and give yourself some time to get used to it.

no, it's just decoration.

no idea. lol!

usually you parallel park in the city next to buildings... you can use the reflection off the building's glass of your car to see how much room you have left front and rear.

welcome aboard!

the spoiler is just a decoration in my opinion in terms off-track driving. that's a good question about the junkyard. I have been going online looking for junk-yards that are tech-savvy that put up the parts catalog available to look up. the main reason is that I'm looking for extra headlights. but what kind of accessories are you talking about? door visors? center arm rest? look in the for sale section in this forum, plenty of people wanting to get rid of their accessories when they decide the Fit is going bye-bye. or look for online junk-yards.

anyways, regarding parking, i try to use the reflection off the car in front of me to assist, as parallel parking doesn't always involve a store front window to use as a guide (city residential neighborhoods for instance).

Well Accidents do happen. I found a blog that a girl made when she got t-boned by a truck running a red light. She made it out safe and posted pictures of her fit after the accident. Those side airbags really saved her.

LOL.

the base actually looks pretty good with the right accessories. for instance, the new JDP lip being developed here.
