Thinking of buying a 2012 Sport Fit & have some questions

Hi everyone,

I've been waiting for a 2012 Sport Fit MT to come to a dealership in my area for several months. One finally came in and I test drove it yesterday for about 45 minutes and ended up with pretty bad neck pain. During the drive I kept trying to adjust the seat/restraint position (because I had been reading on the forums here that this might be an issue), but no matter what position I had the seat in, the head restraint was tilting forward and pushing my head forward at the neck.

Q: I've seen that some of you recommend swapping the rear seat head restraint with the front but doesn't that alter the safety function of the restraint? Any other solutions that don't involve a major change to the car?

Another question--what is the story with the AC being vulnerable due to the front bumper? Is this something that I will definitely have a problem with?

I did like many other things about the Fit (and it was my car of choice since my Honda Civic HB died) and am pretty disappointed that it is so uncomfortable--I've always had Hondas and never had this problem.

Thanks for any input you may have!

I think I remember reading that all the head restraints are more forward than they used to be, because studies showed that unless they were, you were more likely to be injured in a collision. If you try other cars and have the same issue you may just have to find a way around it via seating position (tilt the seat back but sit up straighter? Put a pad behind you?).

We have an 08' & 2012. Not much difference, but head does touch, just a bit. Something we have got used to I suppose. Never had a rock go through the AC condenser, yet. Lucky, again. Think's it's time for some mesh, on both cars. The 08' has 115,000 miles and still going strong.

I bought some plastic mesh & zip ties from EBay. It was a pretty simple install, inserted the mesh and connected the zip ties. most of the ties that came with the mesh were too short, so I bought some longer ones at the hardware store.
I find the seat more comfortable if I am sitting in a more upright position, only slightly touching my head on the head rest.
