New to the forum.

Hi I am new to the forum I frequently read it for ideas and information Just finally decided to make a user account to ask for some advice and get a few more ideas. I have the 2009 Honda fit sport (AT) and recently I have had a bit of trouble with it. I was driving home and heard a taping noise coming from the engine I thought it might be the lifters and looked up online and saw there was a recall for the lost motion spring so I took it into the dealer for service. Well as it turns out apparently the whole bottom end of the motor is destroyed according to them and they wont fix it under the warranty because they are trying to say it wasn't maintained by the previous owner they can't get any records of maintenance for it. I have only had this car for about 6 months and at this point it looks like it will be a lot cheaper to replace the motor my self.

Not that I am a mechanic or anything but I have a few friends and might turn this into a project. If you guys have any advice or recommendations it would be greatly appreciated. So far I am thinking of just getting a used low millage engine but was also thinking about getting a manual transmission and swapping it over to a manual or possibly looking into doing a K20 swap. Anyway I am new here so please go easy and Thanks!

Try another dealer? Where did you buy the car? Go back to them maybe?

If you are not handy then maybe stick to doing the swap for another AT.

How many miles on it? Did the dealer do the motion recall at least?

Yea I actually went to 2 different dealers the first dealer I went to did the recall and said my car was fixed they obviously didn't even test drive it either because the millage was the same as when i dropped it off They actually told me everything was fine and fixed and I didn't notice it was still bad until I got on the freeway then i brought it to a different dealer. I got the car at a dodge dealer they only warranty car's for the first 30 days. =/ do you guys know anywhere to get a good cheap motor?

TO bad it is not my Dodge dealer. That is where I have had my exhaust and springs done. They would have done something about a motor even at 60 days. Did you talk to the Dodge dealer? Won't hurt.

So how bad is this noise? Has it gotten worse? What specifically did they say was wrong with it? Did you have oil changed? If not that noticeable then drive it til it blows. It may never.

I guess a junkyard for a motor.
