bottom out

I have a 2010 Fit and when I go over railroad tracks and potholes at a moderate speed, it bottoms out lots. Is this normal? Any suggestions for a remedy?

Go slower and angle if necessary. Or take a different route altogether. I'm not sure whether you're lowered or not but I rarely bottom out even lowered by 2 inches. You just have to really pay attention to all the holes/dips everywhere. Certain slopes/obstacles may be impossible sometimes, though. Lol, I have friends that need 2x4s just to get out of their own driveway.

Welcome to the freakworld peppie. You're going to have fun around here.

Your concerns sort of remind me of that old Smith and Dale joke; "Doctor, it hurts when I do this. Don't do that!"

Sorry, did I give the wrong advice? I'm not familiar with that region, are you saying it's got bad terrain/undeveloped roads? If so, then there is nothing he can do about that except get a truck lol.

Have you ever tried to drive a Fit over a dead moose in the road? It's not a pretty sight.

I always find it shocking when people bring up threads like this, which come around quite often, of people scraping and bottoming out a stock fit. I live in Alabama in the boonies on a nearly 2" lowered Fit and never scrape or bottom, my driveway is like 30 degrees.

On a side note I sometimes scrub the wider 205/50-16 tires on the fender liners going over dips at 100mph, lol

people need to learn how to drive.

my car is dumped as well... i rub the underside of my car on every speed bump i go over.

GO SLOW AND LEARN HOW TO ANGLE.

look ahead in the road, avoid all potholes and giant dips.

your first comment was not necessary, and it was actually quite rude.

OP never stated that his car was "dumped" and hasn't even returned to acknowledged if his car is even dropped. he could just be asking, because he might be questioning if his OE shocks are blown or not.

To the op. as stated there is more information to be had before anyone even starts to give you any advice. such as, are you lower? and on what? springs? coils? also what do you define as "moderate speed?"

Truth hurts.

^^ This I agree with. There isn't enough info from the OP at all. My main question is what does the road's surface generally (bump height/depth and amount) do they experience this at and at what speed?

I am driving normally and not too fast, it doesn't seem like it should bottom out. There are no modifications to the car. Must be because it is a honda

I don't understand how someone could bottom out a stock fit with normal driving, and I will admit when my car was stock I accidentally hit some dips, pot holes, and train tracks a little faster than I would have liked, was never a problem, and still isn't a problem even lowered with 4 people in the car plus cargo

bottom

That is the reason I have asked here, it shouldn't bottom out with normal driving and does. Maybe bad strut?

i can, because i warrantied my shocks at 14000 miles.

i experienced the same thing, my rear end would bottom out when i would go over railroad tracks at about 20 miles an hour. sure enough i found my shocks were leaking like a bitch and had them warrantied out.

i also had stock suspension no springs.

so to op i would just take my car back in, and have honda look at it. its not like its going to cost you anything.
