I doubt that he is bottoming out at all... As cold as it is this time of year it is possible that the fluid in his struts and shocks isn't flowing through the orifices very well making for a very stiff ride... It happens here sometimes as well about once every 10 years or so.

so brooklyn is alot like the yukon I bottom out here and there cause of pothole riddin streets just try not to speed over em and hondas here are known to bottom out had lots of friends that owned civics back in the day, and they were prone to bottoming out in certain streets and driveways
