It absolutely will, that's why I suggested it. People haven't been hacking up their back bumpers for years because it looks cool, quite the contrary

But it will definitely work.

OP I just wanted you to think for a little bit, but I wouldn't recommend putting that plate only in front of the rear bumper... you're basically building a wing with "upforce" like that.

Full undertray or nothing! (or speed holes )

They spent a shitton of money to get there, but still impressive.

Truth, and they are apparently quite bad hypermilers.

With my LS Integra (w/ a dying head gasket) I still averaged, 32.8 mpg and I got 34.5-35.1 regularly.

I think they make vent hole covers so it don't look bad

How about vent slots? Some kind of horizontal slot, vertical slot or even some design.

I think you can put a single slot right in the groove at the top part of the diffuser and it probably wouldn't be too visible.

You could make a full underplate like Mike posted. The idea is to get rid of the drag from the rear bumper.
A rear diffuser does not increase drag. It makes the air leaving the rear of the car more stable and in fact increases down force with out causing more drag. still 800 dollar diffuser does not equal worth it for a car that is awesome but has no need for such shit

I have not look under the back of my Fit but it already looks like a diffuser on the GE8. I would assume adding a Mugen rear bumper would increase drag.

Let me break that down for you.

Rear diffuser won't help your mpg, there already is one on the car (GE8 anyway, idk about GD)

Rear spoiler will increase drag, lower mpg.

You can't create downforce without creating drag.
