towing a Fit

I tow my 2010 Fit with my motorhome. I have had several instances this summer where the battery in my Fit goes dead. It seems to happen in a random pattern, no correlation between number of miles or anything else. Honda claims they have never heard of such a thing and yet I know two other Honda owners who have the same experience. Anyone out there know a solution?

Have you considered charging the Fit battery from the towing vehicle while driving down the road. I do that to most anything I tow. There is a pin in the 7 pin trailer wiring harness reserved for that use.

That is what I do as well. Circuit breaker on the motorhome end, and one on the tow car as well.

If you are not powering anything heavy and only charging the battery, 12 gauge wire and two automatic reset circuit breakers (available from AutoZone) should do the trick. You can get them in blade type that plug into a normal large blade type fuse holder. I have a 45 only because I sometimes power a winch to drag cars on to my trailer and occasionally a 30 amp will trip. For battery charging a 30 amp never trips.

I am new to towing and am using the Invisibreak. It requires a connection from the RV to the Fit's battery to keep the battery charged for the breaking system. This will also eliminate having to pull the radio fuse, which I can barely get to to remove let alone see it well enough to replace. I am getting ready for my first extended trip and will let you know how it works.
