From an '07 to a '12

Just traded my '07 base Fit for a '12 Sport and the difference is amazing. Lots of improvements, much nicer and quieter ride though I give up some nimbleness. The lighting in '07 was bad so I put in LEDs, new model seems adequate with fade out - nice touch. Love the drink holders by the vents, it's hot here and seems to keep my drink cooler.
I carry a lot of stuff at times and the Fit is the only car of this size that can manage what I need. I play in a band for fun and can carry my steel guitar, 2 amps, minimum 2 guitars, steel seat, big bag of stuff along with a lot of other misc things. Got a 55" TV at BB a few weeks ago, I drove up and the guys were shaking their heads, said it wouldn't fit - I said that's why they call it a Fit..though I wasn't really sure it would - it did! And I like not having to take of headrests in back to lay flat.
I don't even have 75 miles yet and have some questions. First, trying to get the all doors to unlock when in Park, followed directions but not working. Close door, put on parking brake, turn car on, hold unlock and wait for beeps but not hearing it - I can always have dealer do it but I'll look stupid for asking.
Thinking of adding satellite radio (I don't have nav), can that be added via USB? Suggestions would be appreciated. They just took off the air the only sports talk station, so for time being using Tune In Radio. Waiting for an installation disk to mount phone on dashboard. Guess I could get by with using phone but would like to know the easier options I may have in regards to satellite radio. Don't want to replace radio at this time, just bought a new BT radio for my wife's Ridgeline.
Need to window tint ASAP, not sure what will be open Labor Day. The place I use does tinting & stereos and would like some info on satellite options before I go. Have a guy that will put tint on the top of windshield and will go lower than legal in TX, and I think it necessary on a Fit..seems as if I get more shade on this newer model though.
This new Fit is nice, loving it!

Got the door unlock configuration done. Directions say place ignition in "on", didn't realize you could do that without starting car. Simple.
Not gonna do satellite radio, but having a problem getting iPod shuffle to work with USB, it will work with audio cable. Working on it.

Thanks, I've tried that as well as restoring it. I just got it at Radio Shack, wasn't aware until I got home that is was 'refurbished'. Have an older iPod which works perfectly through USB.

sounds great mooe- i went from a 08 GD sport to 12 GE sport myself both MT's. i had a 09 sport AT for a while, but my wife's been using that most of the time.

i too noticed great improvements between GD and GE, but also between my 09 GE sport and 12 GE sport. i HIGHLY RECOMMEND you swap out the springs to Swift springs. the 12's ride is too soft. 09's ride is too choppy. the Swift's ride is perfect.

Thanks, I'll check that out.
BTW, returned Shuffle to Radio Shack and will leave it at that. I'm getting out of the Apple ecosystem, I like Android better. Guess I'll go with a flash drive and my phone for music/radio.

Congrats on your new Fit and +1000 on getting Swift springs

I upgraded to Swifts and Progress RSB and love the ride and handling improvement over stock.

A quick question for those who may have optional LED lighting...does that take away the dim center white light? I was thinking of adding this but that light along with the blue glow of my phone charger is acceptable.

Think I just busted 100 miles on this new car so any opinions are limited. I'm amazed at the small difference I paid between the old '07 base and the '12 Sport considering the huge improvements that have been made. Steering wheel telescopes, window auto down AND up, mpg indicator, better lighting, running lights, better audio, improved a/c (& drink holder placement), love the 2nd glove box, great, quiet ride, roomier and I like the front windshield design much better. I'm told there's more room in the back seat though I haven't ridden there yet. I do know the old cargo liner is a bit too big for this new model.

mooe- i just got a blue #74 LED from ebay (runs on 12v) and just swapped out the white bulb above the cup holder. it looks great.

and i wired the same LED to my ignition and hooked up to the dome light wires so it lights up when i open the door (and turns off automatically like any old iginition key ring).

np, the LED has polarity so if it doesn't light up, just flip the wire or the bulb.

here's where i talk about it on my blog.

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...-blog-148.html

you dont really need the foil tape light guide i made. i ended up taking the foil off cause the LED is
plenty bright.

thanks to black3sr back in 2009, i did the ignition light on my 2009 GE.
the 2 wires to tap:
