2013 A/T performance
2013 A/T performance
I had read many other posts about the shifting, overall performance vs. the manual but I have to say I have no problem at all with smoothness or other shift related issues that I have read about here and there.
Initially I was going to get the manual but my wife has been spoiled after years of an A/T and she didn't really want a manual so I gave in.
I have to say it's been great.

I am impressed with the smoothness of my Fits auto transmission, and like the quick upshifting it seems to do in lower gears. I would have liked the manual for zipping around, but I do alot of city driving and just got sick of shifting in my other car. Now, if I get that new 5.0 Mustang one day, it will be a manual. I will need to win the lotto first though.
I'm sorry, but I cannot say that I regard the Fit's AT as "smooth." Smooth, to me, means seeing the tachometer drop between gears but not feeling any change in acceleration (or jerkiness). As in ... none. RPMs drop; no jerk. My AT certainly has a little bit of a jerk, especially at low throttle openings.
I'm not complaining. This isn't a big deal. But I have driven many, many cars with smooth ATs - nearly any American car for example - so clearly it is not terribly difficult. I'm sure there is some tradeoff that Honda decided to favor that makes their L-series AT shifts less than perfect, and that's fine, but "smooth?" Not quite

Feels smooth to me. Smooth to me means nice transmission shifting between gears (without a torque converter going in and out of lock up constantly) and no jerking sensation. Its always open for interpretation. But I no issues with in that area with this car.
I traded my 2009 Nissan Cube with CVT for my 2013 Fit Base A/T so it's a welcome change to actually have transmission that downshifts instead that strange constant climb of RPMs you get with a CVT. I've had other non-CVT automatics in the past and my Fit seems better than average as far as when it shifts and how smooth it feels.
