Clay bar? I've never done it so I'm a bit apprehensive. Is it worth it or?
Any tips if I should do it, what not to do, what to do?
Thanks in advance.

Absolutely clay bar the car before waxing. It's an easy job, and removes almost all surface contaminants that the wax would seal in place if it is left on the paint. Best bargain is from "Griot's Garage". You get a HUGE clay bar and quart of lubricant spray for around $30. Enough for several years of car care.
Sure, if you can, go ahead and do it. It will make a noticeable difference, you will feel it very smooth instead of a bit gritty when you run your fingers over the clearcoat. Needless to say, give your car a good thorough washing before you go and clay the car since dirt leftover might actually swirl your paint if heavily gritted. Knead the clay often and use the spray to keep it sliding smooth.
for adhesion, if you are changing protectant types between natural wax and polymer, it's a good idea to remove the old stuff prior to applying.
i use this to remove old product. if you're using polymer over polymer or wax over wax, then no need really.
