The Best Tools

What are the best (safest, most reliable and long-lasting) yes cheapest quality:

- Hydraulic auto jack?

- Jack stands?

Again, need as cheap as possible... but don't want any doubts whatsoever regarding safety, for obvious reasons. Need jack and stands BADLY!

Thanks, FFs!

Order from Harbor Freight Tools. Their Chinese-made jack stands are as safe as any, same story with their "racing floor jacks". They may have a store near you (there are three within 50 miles of my home), but if not, they ship via UPS. Once you order from them, they will send you coupons and sales ads every few weeks, though.

Equipment like this is regulated at the manufacturer for safety and quality control. Being that the Fit weighs about 2500 lbs., any of the kind you get at an auto parts store should be fine. Otherwise, buy the more expensive ones, whatever they may be.

+1 on Harbor Freight. Most of the car magazines (Car and Driver, Automobile, etc.) also will have coupons for Harbor Freight and usually have one coupon for an additional 20% off one item.

Might want to consider a low profile jack I got one from Harbor Freight needed for my Miata but much easier to reach farther under the car. Sears usually sells jack stands reasonably if you join the Kraftman's Club you can get good deals.
