Exclamation Need some help (hopefully future fit owner)

Hi everyone, I do alot of browsing around on fitfreak but this is my first time ever posting. Anyways I currently own a 96 honda accord but my dad wants to get me a newer car so he said I can pick a car but only from a dealership and has to be $14,000 or lower. I have always been a hatchback fan and the first time I drove my friends 08 Fit m/t I fell in LOVE... (like i was destined to own one lol)

So far out of all the fits, I only found one at a dealership that was a M/T. I want my fit to be a 5speed but every fit I have found is a A/T. Anyways it is a 2010 Honda fit sport and has 57k miles and they want $13,991 for it. Now do you guys think this is a good deal or is it a bit overpriced ?

Also how long do you guys say a Honda Fit will last for because I was hoping to buy one with lower mileage but of course if I cant find one then this one might be it. Appreciate all your feedback !

p.s.- I dont know why but it seems like a majority of the fits have an A/T maybe its because I live in Vegas but idk lol

57K on 2010 isn't that bad. At 19K a year avg that means it was being driven! Hopefully they have service records to go with it... although even in 60k that might not include much more than a few oil/cabin filter changes. I know 2007 Fits with almost 200K now that needed nothing more than basic maintenance, and the GE (2009+) seem just as if not more reliable. Stick to the stick You wont regret it!

On price... Kbb.com says they are too high
Kelley Blue Book

And that's for a car in EXCELLENT condition.

Honestly, take them in the info/print out from Kbb and see if you cant talk them down!

Good luck, hope to see you as our newest member

We couldn't find any 5-speeds when we were shopping for our new Fit back in late '08. We had to order ours. My wife hated the automatic--the way it had to downshift to get up a hill on the highway when the cruise control was on. I didn't mind it so much, but it was a deal-breaker for her. You'll be lucky to find a 5-speed at a dealer.

Cheers.

I find that on the expensive side. If I'm gonna buy a car at near retail (over 60-70% of retail) its gotta be real low mileage or super well maintained. I got an older fit (2007) and bought it for under 50% of the original retail.

Although a car can last longer I think of a cars life as 10 years. If it is 3 years old it has gone through 1/3 of its life and should be at least 1/3 less and subtracting more for wear and tear and the fact it is used (cannot chose color, options etc).

I'd keep shopping, best of luck.

The used car market is a sellers one today. 2008-2009 was the depth of the recession and new car sales plummeted. That means that late model used car prices are now at an all time high. Dealers are paying record amounts at auction just to get inventory so they can make a profit on the financing, not even on the price of the car. There are none out there for even close to 50% off new MSRP, even with high miles, unless they are salvage title or have other issues. You may think of depreciation as a linear function, like the IRS does. The real supply-demand market does not obey those rules.

That's exactly what I have on my 2010, mechanically perfect, no issues whatsoever. Just little interior pieces broken and stuff and i've seemed to have developed wind noise from my passenger door, idk...

14k is about on par with what dealers are asking around here for a sport with similar mileage. You can come at them with KBB price but I can almost guarantee you they will just mention something about supply and demand and tell you to kick rocks.

This one?
Cars for Sale: 2010 Honda Fit Sport in Las Vegas, NV 89146: Hatchback Details - 336981264 - AutoTrader.com

You're right in saying that's the only M/T in Vegas under 14k

If you really want M/T i'd just pick it up before someone else does. How do you feel about 2007-2008 model?

The one problem will be finding a used Fit with manual transmission. It is hard enough getting a manual transmission in a new one along with the color you want. Good luck.
