A OEM wheel upgrade question....What do you think?
Hi to ALL FF members.I have a question and i want to share it with all.My GE8 right now is using the OEM 2010 Honda Fit Sport rims.My question is...If i upgrade to the 2012-2013 OEM Honda Fit Sport rims.... Did the car loose car value because it did not have the OEM rims of the same year, get more value because it has the 2012-2013 OEM rims or stay the same value?Tomorrow i will go to the Honda dealer and ask a salesman to know.I hear that if you trade a car with aftermarket wheels it decrease value. What do you think?...

Still, adding newer FIT OEM wheels will at least keep the value where it was before the change.
Switching to much more expensive rims should increase value if you were to stick to your guns when trading/selling. But for average-priced 3rd-party rims, it may well decrease value of the car.
All of the above sounds like pure logic to me... but I could be wrong as far as how the market would actually affect the situation.
If I did what you're doing I would demand at least current value. If I added lighter, MUCH more expensive rims I would also demand more value when trading or selling. I wouldn't let anyone deal with me contrary to that.
When selling/trading, always stick to your guns unless you're actually offering something of lesser value.

There's no way it will loose value. I don't know how much added value the newer style rims will give the car. I would imagine it would add value except for the fact people and dealers are going to say it's still a 2010 ride, regardless of wheels.

OK people...I went to Honda and ask my question to a salesman and this was his answer...."If you install a 2012-2013 OEM Honda Fit Sport alloy rims to your 2010 Honda Fit Sport it will increase a little value BUT NOT to much.Your are installing a original Honda rim and that is GOOD.Warranty is not void BUT if you install a aftermarket wheels of any kind it will decrease the value of your car.I can tell you if you like to install a aftermarket wheel and change the look of your car is your choice BUT don't SELL the OEM rims.Keep them.If your planning to trade your car in the future put them again and try to keep the car the more original possible. Also you can do this things to keep a GOOD value of your car.... A nice and clean interiors gives value to ANY car.Giving GOOD care of the paint too.GOOD tires,OEM radio,OEM spoilers,etc..etc.People also look if the car has high millage on them.Low millage is GOOD when trading a car.Extended car warranty also give MORE value to the car.Honda Fit is a GOOD car.People knows it.Just enjoy it.It will give you a lot of years of service."
With that in mind my friends....I will keep my OEM rims and enjoy the 2012-2013 rims too...

Nevertheless, that's a better outcome than I would have thought coming from any dealer.Out of curiosity, what did you pay for the 2012-2013 wheels? I'm guessing --based on prices I've seen at Honda parts dealers -- you probably could have purchased a much lighter and nicer-looking aftermarket set of rims for what you payed for them.
I too think the 2012/2013 wheels are better-looking than the 2010 rims. But I wouldn't have payed some of the prices I've seen for them... considering what I could get for the same money from aftermarket wheel producers.
Congrats on the "value" info... enjoy the new OEMs.
