2014 Honda Fit confirmed for September launch

Model will likely be unveiled shortly

Honda has quietly announced the 2014 Fit will be launched in Japan in September.
The company didn't have much to say about the model, but a recent brochure leak revealed the car will have Insight-inspired styling with an aggressive front bumper, angular headlights and a distinctive grille. The Fit will also have upward sweeping character lines, a ventilated rear bumper and Volvo-like taillights.
The car's cabin will be significantly improved with higher quality materials and an improved design. Rear passengers will also benefit from an extra 65mm of legroom.
Little else is known about the model, but it is expected to be offered with Earth Dream engines as well as a hybrid powertrain.
The JDM-spec Fit will be built alongside the Freed minivan at the company's Yorii Plant in Japan. US-spec models will be made Mexico alongside the production version of the Urban SUV concept.

Wonder if it is a RS model? They indicated a RS model in Japan would be released.

Exclusivo: Conhea o novo Fit por completo Blogs Espio C/D

Its not as nice as the 2nd Gen imho. The front is OK, the sides and rear are fugly. It may grow on me, but I dont get that same 'wow its perfect' that I got with the 2nd Gen...

Seems a little too sedan-like now. I still like the rims but otherwise, enh.

2014 Honda Jazz to have World’s Best Fuel Efficiency; Japanese launch in September?

Details on the 2014 Honda Jazz (or the 2014 Honda Fit) are slowly emerging. We were the first to update you about the possible design, the supposedly leaked brochure scans and in this post we will update you about the hybrid version of the Jazz.
Nikkei, the Japanese business news provider, reports that the next generation Honda Jazz would achieve the best fuel economy, not only for a Honda or a Japanese product, but in the world.
The hybrid Jazz will achieve 36km/l (102mpg) in Japan’s Transport Ministry Test, known as JCO8. Until now, the Toyota Aqua (also called the Prius city) with it’s 35.4km/l and the Toyota Prius at 30km/l bettered other the Honda products. The recently launched Accord Hybrid has a commendable 30km/l efficiency and the new Jazz will obviously be better in that respect.
It is also reported that the new Jazz would go on sale in Japan this September, while other markets such as those of North America and Europe, including India, would get the car sometime next year.

Are mid model changes really common? I'm looking to buy a fit this september, and it seems so weird to me that they'll have 6+ months without a 2014. I'm really more concerned with the potential MPG improvements if any.

There will be without a doubt improvements in MPG for the upcoming third generation Fit. Honda has incorporated their new Earth Dreams powertrain. The new technology means better MPG and more horsepower. It's also going to have a CVT transmission. The 2013 Honda Accord already has the new tech.
