Opinions Please???? (F CarFax!!!)
Doesn't carfax have a guarantee with their reports???
Edit, just went to their site for the first time in YEARS. Gone is the "$50,000 GUARANTEE" replaced with "The exclusive CARFAX Buyback Guarantee reduces the risk involved in buying a used car. If the CARFAX Report fails to include a DMV-issued branded title (such as salvage, fire or flood damage, and odometer problems), CARFAX may buy the vehicle back for the full purchase price*. You can also use the free CARFAX Lemon Check to help avoid cars with problems." I had to look for this btw...

the buyer needs to look at the car, use other resources to make a sound decision.
typically though, buying a used car is buying someone else's problem. hell, if i had a '12 that couldnt be lemoned with problems, i'd just sell it now. looks great, low milage. will get top dollar ...but with hidden problems.
Take the dealer up on their offer. Get rid of the damaged Fit. Have dealer get the color you want. Dealer should have known they were sellin accident car if it wasnt from auction.
Now Carfax is useless. And this is why:
When I was in high school 6-8 years ago I bought an old 89 EF hatch privately. I ran a Carfax on the car, went to police station to check if their were Leins registered against the car. Both Carfax and police told me she was eh okay to buy.
Well about a week later, I was arrested, thrown in jail for a) driving a stolen vehicle and b) driving a vehicle that was involved in an assault 6 months prior to buying the car. Carfax never told me it was stolen.
Long story short. I was released, never formally charged, yada yada. Police took car cause they had been looking for it for a while. I showed them reciept that it was purchased privately and the Carfax. So they took my car, didnt give me money, guy who sold car was long gone, but eh it was only $500 lost. Jail had me very rattled. By the way I'm soon to get my paralegal license in Canada. Odd how things work out
Oh I forgot to add that Carfax is really in the business of making money and not helping out the buyer. How can you advertise "show me the Carfax" when a potential buyer cannot rely on that information. Two clear examples of where Carfax has failed, and they were serious failures. My example and the OG poster.

At least they offered you a new Fit. I had damage when I got my CPO and through a lot of hassle, the dealer repaired my quarter panel. Not 100% to my satisfaction but good enough in my eyes and if I go to sell the car - it will be at least not easily noticeable. Your issue seems a lot bigger in nature.
Take that damn offer, mate.
