Anyone have an air ride suspension on their Fit?
I heard it's like riding on a cloud so I am just starting to look into it for a Fit. If anyone has it on theirs do you like it? How expensive was it to purchase and have installed? What kind of modifications did you need to do to your Fit to have them installed?
Good short thread describing some of the obstacles with airsus. mrphillip was on these forums too, not sure if he still frequents:

How expensive (soup to nuts)?
If you do go with the air bags go with the airrunners , I've heard that the k sports are not that great and especially for the price, I've been doing research on bags as well, planning to put my ge on bags next year good luck on your research man

My goal with my car was to get a super comfortable ride where I can take passengers around without them even knowing I had air..but through research and through personal experience, Fits are lightweight cars with a short wheelbase and a rear torsion beam suspension. You're not gonna get Lexus-like ride quality no matter what suspension set up you have. And with my set up, I didn't make it any better..I kinda sorta wish I never messed with the rears in the first place. I'd take ride comfort over a little rake anyday now.
But, I'm actually scheduled to uninstall my setup next week and will be posting it up here on the forums to sell!
And here are the pics of the car before I modified the rears. This is how it sat when aired out all the way.

But to answer your questions in your initial post.
1. I do like it. If I could go back and re-do it again, I would have left it how it was when it was first installed. I think that gave the best ride quality.
2. The Air Runner kit on their website is listed at $2999 and I had a friend install it. The install is the most important part! I have had no problems with my set up so far.
3. For the Air Runner kit, I think the only modification you have to do is to cut the "nipple" off in the rear spring perch section.
Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot. BTW the paint on your ride looks incredible and coming from someone who thinks tint makes every car look better, between the two of these cars...I like the one without it.

AirRex is also "new" on the market. They already have a huge following and are known for their "ease" of installs due to pre-made casings and what have you. Their kits are $2K and also come with a wireless remote vs say the AirRunner, where you need to run an extra system for it to have wireless connectivity (e.g. Accuair), which will run you somewhere up of $4K for a nice setup similar to AirRex. AirRex is made in Taiwan, vs AirRunner is Japan.
The plus about the AirRunner kit is that they give you the option (of no extra charge) to have a pancake-style tank, to keep use of your rear cargo space, rather than having an ugly tank/box taking up space. That's mainly the reason I'll go AirRunner, but I'll have to talk to the guys here about it.
It's just a matter of who's near you and what they endorse.

Well then, I was thinking of going air...... so by reading this thread, doesnt seem like an ideal thing to do? im on coils now and love the ride, I just want to go lower but on the same boat, dont want to be destroying the under carriage of the car.. I know sounds like im contradicting myself but I thought it would be easier to go air and have different presets for the type of driving im doing with the different weight. Not sure what exactly to do as I dont want to spend a couple of grand and not be happy.. guess ill just keep reading and deciding what exactly I would like to do.
"Ideal" is subjective. Your goals may be different from mines from someone else's.
I've done coils for a while now and while it's less work and much cheaper to get ones that "do the job", the inability to adjust on the fly is just a huge inconvenience.
I don't have the time as I used to when I was younger to jack-up my car and play with the height. With air, you can park hard, but roll safely. That's what appeals to me and compared to my younger days, money isn't so much the restriction it used to be.
It's all about your goals and do you want to do it right the first time, or constantly adjust along the way. If life has taught me anything, know your goals inside and out and don't half-ass the work to get there, be it patience to save up or effort to work hard to meet deadlines.

This is something I'm interested in too.
I don't even need to go that low, maybe 2 inches max all around. But I want to be able to raise back up at the touch of a button if I'm giving others a ride or driving through snow/rough ground.

You are correct, as everyone has different goals! I also don't have much time to be jacking up the car and playing with the height. Also to me this way of life I think u can never get to old for, as I have two kids that i drive around with that don't want to sacrifice the ride quality for! Granted that the hobby is unique in its way, I still love being apart of it.... I def love how the car handles, performed and looks low.... I just can't stand worrying about not being able to clear certain roads without scrapping and doing damage... That's why I would love the power to touch a button and clear with weight in the fit and then ride low while alone to shows and meets.... If I get the things sold that I'm trying to sell, I'm going to try and go air.... Time will tell
We're all in the same boat! It's a matter of deciding which brand now haha
