Honda navigation disk 2014 6.C0
Recently took a trip around Chicago after "upgrading" to the latest 6.C0 2014 turquoise disk for the Honda Navigation system.
WARNING: I found numerous navigation errors for the Chicago area on this disk. If you are not familiar with the Chicago expressways, interstates and tollways, this disk will get you lost! I may go back to my 2010 disk. No idea about other parts of the country.
Examples:
I-94 and I-294 split icon is incorrect.
I-94 and I-294 are both labeled I-94 at the split.
I-94 and I-294 turn directions are reversed.
It thinks toll plazas are exits and tells you to exit to the right.
It called a local road (IL-38) "Interstate 38" and tried to get me to exit onto it right off a bridge.
The Kennedy express lanes into downtown Chicago come up as "unverified road" and cancels your route. If you have ever driven the Kennedy Express lanes it is NO place to be programming your Nav. (think 70 mph bumper-to-bumper and no shoulders).
I-90 to I-65S exit direction arrow is reversed.
Several state highways and secondary roads in Indiana now come up as "unverified road".
My old 2008 disk in my Civic was fine.

Thanks for the heads-up. I drive into Chicago with our '09 Nav disk pretty regularly and have had no problems. I was thinking that I should update (it really doesn't work well in parts of Boston where there has been a lot of road work). Maybe I'll hold off and see what comes next.
Cheers

Yes, it went through the whole update thing. I tired to go back to my 2010 disk, but it said a later disk had already been installed. I can go back, it's just more work.
I hadn't taken my trip with the 2010 disk, but my 2008 disk can navigate the Chicago expressways without problems.
It appears they had a dyslexic cartographer for the 2014 disk.
I got redirected to Nokia's www.here.com and told to suggest corrections myself. Pretty useless since it appears your suggestions are to update a map, not incorrect navigation directions.
NavTeq is out of Chicago, but merged with Nokia from 2007 to 2011. I've heard there was a lot of bitterness over layoffs during the merger.
Called their toll-free number in Utah and they suggested and exchange first , then a refund.

I have had the navi get a case of the heebie-jeebies in downtown Chicago when it was unable to get a useable GPS signal. One reason I like these navi units is that they dead reckon pretty well after a loss of signal. For whatever reason, the navi got confused among the tall buildings and never did give me an accurate fix until I parked for a few minutes in an area where it could see the satellites. I can't imagine this would be a problem if you are out on the expressways, though.
The instructions to let you revert back are online and involve hitting Map-Menu-Cancel. Haven't tried it yet.
NavTeq/Nokia/Here has a 30 day refund policy, so they will send me another disk to try. Then if I have the same results I can get a refund withing 30 days, and try again next year.
If you complain about map errors, they essentially tell you to suggest fixes on their site to help future customers:
"Thank you for contacting Honda Navigation Center. The version 6.C0 is the most current update available for your 2010 Fit. We welcome your feedback when you notice a disparity between the real world roads and your product’s representation of them. To report misrepresentations that may require an update to the database, please visit http://here.com/mapcreator to submit your request. "
