I rented a Ford Fiesta last week on vacation and I was very disappointed in how it drove compared to my wife's 07 Fit. The Fit has more interior room and drives better than a new Fiesta. The most disappointing thing was the engine and transmission. The car would not smoothly accelerate from a stand still with out hunting around for the correct gear while accelerating. I noticed the same issue when I rented a a Ford Focus last year. The engine seems to bog down in the mid RPM range. So much for Ford's Ecoboost engines.

 

Agree with you assessment, I had a similar experience with a Focus. Depends on what the driver is looking for, the FIT provides a better driving experience - what it can do. The Fords are more about gadgets - what it has.

 

Seems like Ford auto dct is not well regarded. Also, Ford steering is definitely different than Honda / BMW. I recently switched to Focus ST, and the adjustment has been difficult, particularly the steering. My '07 Honda Fit has better steering imho.
