Saw my first '15 today
Saw my first '15 today
A local dealer has a new EX-L on the lot, still with New Car protective plastic adhered to it in various places.
I stopped and took a few quick pictures.

Of possible interest to those of us who have added mesh behind the lower grill of our GEs, the '15's grid seems at least a little more protective, with the AC condenser possibly further back(?).

Also note the horn location....
The '15 is clearly a swell little car and all...

... but to me it just doesn't look like a FIT.

(Generic mid-2010s spoiler-ette on the back, Volvo lights, etc. I also like the back-est window on the '13 better.)
Going on aesthetics alone, to me the earlier renditions still get the nod-- and are clearly FITs.

Thanks for posting the pictures. Still waiting to see one here. Of course I'm sixty miles from a dealer, but I'd love to take one for a test drive. When the '09s came out, people were saying the same thing about them.
Cheers.

It's easy to tell the 1st and 2nd gens apart, but to me they are both obviously Fits.
Now I find myself staring at a lot of tiny-spoilered cars wondering if I might be looking at a '15 Fit. Maybe that will change once I start seeing the '15s out and about?

yah, i saw the new fits in japan earlier this summer and i have to say, they look pretty cool in person.
none of the pictures ive seen online really do the car justice. one would have to see the car in person.

Had to laugh at the poster who decried the noobiness of the GE owners bringing down the quality of the forums.
Gotta love it.

For eight years now, every time I've seen a Honda Fit I've said (if only to myself, but usually to anyone within earshot, poor souls),
I-Want-a-Honda-Fit, all in one breath-- a Pavlovian response, a reflex of recognition and desire.
The 1st Gen is still a favorite for overall looks, but the 2nd Gen (one of which I was finally, delightfully able to obtain a couple of months ago) is clearly identifiable as a Fit.
I'm just not getting that from the newest edition; I don't yet understand what I'm looking at. It's interesting looking, and I'm sure it's a fine little car, but it doesn't even look like a Fit variant to me.
I think it's that so little of the body is "squared up," and especially the loss of the upright [look of the] back?
(Not my pictures: )

[If anything, I think the Fits from different years look more alike in the above pictures than they do in real-life next to each other.]
The move to "tactical" lines, as I call them, is not unique to Honda. As one example, I'm amazed at how different the newer Ford Escapes are from the earlier models. And, as with the Fit, I prefer the older "classic" look to the current tactical/rounded look of the new Escapes, and so many other makes and models.

To me they look like the got fat and lost the quirkey styling that I liked. I saw a 15 at the NY autoshow. I bought my fit because of it's low beltline, good visibility and large windows. They shrank all of that on the new one. I like cars that feel open and spacious, not like a cacoon. That said, I bet it is still a great car.
I saw one drive by last week. It was the silver color. I have yet to go to my dealer to see the 2015 models.
Waiting for the white to arrive- that is the only color that would tempt me to abandon my 2010.

I've now seen a Silver '15 as well. Good-looking car, but it still scrambles my "Fit" radar-- not a clear signal.

I saw my first 15 in person yesterday. It actually took me a bit to realize what I was looking at.
It was silver and was from the same dealer I bought my 2012 from.I got a good look at it because we were in heavy traffic in West Los Angeles.
I'm sorry to say I did not like it at all.The rear is just way to busy and the creases and lines along the sides do not work for me.
I sold my Fit a few weeks ago and picked up a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis lol
I know I know WTF
I just got tired of the harsh ride and lack of power and limited range with the small tank.I may get another Fit some day if it morphs into a larger more comfy ride with a 20 gallon tank.

I don't think the ride is too harsh and I came from the world of VW. The fit has great road feel which makes driving more intuitive and connected.
I am also not a fan of the new model. The car is just a mess on the outside. I disagree with posters saying it looks better in person. I thought it looked worse. The interior was nice but not ground breaking. Also I thought it was lacking headroom, especially laterally and I'm an average guy. Didn't get to drive it but I didn't have the desire to.
I am more excited about the recently announced Mazda2. I bet that would be a better driver's car. But alas, that's another topic.
I saw one and only one on a dealers lot on a Sunday when the dealership was closed. I was not overly impressed at the time. On Monday evening I drove by again and it was sold and gone.
I though at the time "I'll wait until the 2016 model and give them time to work out the bugs from a new model being made in a new plant". Also I'm not knowingly buying anything from Mexico until they release our US Marine being held just across the border form San Diego.
Well all of that changed on July 6th when my daughter totaled her 2009 Fit. Now I'm looking for a replacement. I'm still looking for a 2009 but f I do not find one, she will have to drive a one of my S-10 Blazers for a year. In 2016 model year I'll revisit buying a 2016 Fit.

I think some of it is I'm just getting old and like a more comfy ride and rear wheel drive V8 power.
I think I'll take a test drive of the new Fit just to see how it rides.

Our dealer got two "used" '15 Fits off a truck today—said he bought them from Honda with six or seven thousand miles on them. Had a chance to look and sit today. The seating area is a little more comfortable. The view out was still pretty nice, and the center armrest with a cubby is a very nice touch. Gone, though, is the upper glove box, which I would miss. Note the push-button starter and backup camera. The sales guy told me that if you take out the headrest, the seat will fully recline so you can sack out (like the GDs).
Thought the car looked real nice. I'd be tempted if I didn't already own one. Not enough to trade (although they always want my MT with Navi—they've never seen one).
Cheers.
It's hard to imagine the average non-car person even knowing there is a difference between the 2nd- and 3rd-gen Fits. Even though I'm purchasing a 2015, I have mistaken a 2nd-gen Fit on the road for a new one at first. It looks like all they really did was make the glass smaller, add a bunch of busy-lines to the side, and add more Honda-family styling to the front and rear. Nothing revolutionary.
To me the departure between 1st- and 2nd-gen Fits is much more of a change.
