^ Absolutely. It's still a Honda. It's still a Fit. It is just a different version.

I don't want this to turn into ClubSi where an Si newer than the '00 EM1 was considered junk.

 

I dont think your going to be able to change the mind of some of the hard core GD guys. I think some of the others are just having a little fun. I for one STILL have not seen a 09 in person so I really cant pass judgment yet. I don't really care for them to much, even though there starting to grow on me. Mostly im realy exsited to see what you guys will be doing with them and what the after market has for them, I think with a few mods the GE can look pretty bad ass.

 

I think alot of it comes down to, and this is on an unconscious level, most people are just upset that there is something newer than theirs and thus "superior". Now, that I am not stating that as a fact, but more of a general consensus with most products. Newer = better and improved. However, we know with cars that may or may not be the case. Some people just legit think it is a step backwards, but those people I think mostly keep it to themselves and enjoy what they have.

 

i actually kind of like the GE. what makes me angry is the noobness of the new owners. they make the forums alot less enjoyable.

the GD has a cult following and i just dont see that happening for the GE. once/if people start modding GE'S on the level that the GD owners do, ill show some respect. until then, you get no respect from me.

 

Personally I feel the GE is more like a mini-minivan (ie. mazda 5).

Just not a fan of the new fits don't like the way they look. I think they could have made the car look better but they didn't just my thoughts.

i love the features for example the steering wheel and the navi option.

but other then that the car in general i dont like.

i mean the insight was a honda...and that thing was ugly. people bashed on it. some people hate the CRX some people love it.

who cares what other people think. IF YOU like the GEs then so be it, you will have a bunch of other people. hence why you guys have a different thread.

looks to much like a mazda mpv or something. sorry.

once i see some nice GEs ill give it respect and some good comments. but nobody has put effort into making them look good. so there for i think they are still ugly.

yes, it is another Fit.
do we have to like everything honda makes? NO.
I can say with quite certanty that the GE doesn't cut it for me

*edit* oh and, i didn't like the 08 Accord when i first saw it.......i own one of those too now

 

originally i didnt like the USDM version when i saw the initial picts, but
when i saw the release picts and the actual car i thought it looked
pretty good. it turned out more like an ordinary car for the ordinary
person.

it's actually a decent 'step up' from my 08 FitS as far as features...
something consumer reports and the dorks over at CNet might rave
about.

im not sure if it addressed the comments from the car enthusiasts side
though...especially looking at the tire size and less performance aspects,
tach still pushed to the left of the cluster, no 6th gear on the MT, and
so on. im sure one can mod it to make the car respond better but
hardly an improvement for a car enthusiast.

but again, it's a nice car for the ordinary person and im sure 99% of
the folks that buy the Fit is an ordinary person looking for a nice
economical car to get from A to B. it will do that well.

 

personally i do not like the styling, but its not any worse then any other car of which i do not personally like the styling. its still a great car and you wont catch me going on a tantrum about how i feel about it.

To put it into perspective the USDM Fit has only been out for 2 years. How long has this forum been online? Pretty much everyone here is a noob compared to most of the other boards I frequent.

I have watched this same thing happen over and over on forums for the Toyota Tundra, Toyota 4Runner, Honda CBR1000, Honda CRF450, Specialized mountain bikes, and Sea-Doo PWC boards. Most of the owners of current gen hate on the new model, usually until they finally buy one. In ~7 years there will be another new Fit and we all get to the see the same thing all over.

As far as showing respect based on how much someone mods their Fit... ah nevermind, good luck with that. With the increases in production and longer life cycle of the GE model, the market for GE Fit products will be much more attractive to aftermarket companies.

 

This happens on all forums when a new generation comes out. Personally I do not like the exterior of the 09.

I disagree with it is just a forum thing not liking the new model. It is a looks thing for me and I think most of the people that don't like it.

Nah, they're ok. If I owned one, I'm sure I'd sing a different tune.

And yes, I've seen one in person. TINY back window. I thought the GD was marginal but the GE rear window is scrunched a good 3-4 inches!
