fit is like rodney dangerfield

very few millennials will get this, but the fit is like rodney dangerfield - no respect!

9 out of 10 drivers pick the fit when deciding to cut into a lane. drivers are also more apt to switch lanes at a stop light to feel that pathetic rush of blowing the doors off a fit -- ooo.

i'm not talking mustangs or wrxs here...i'm seeing this from friggin camery and altima drivers who seem to take out all their years of pent-up frustrations from bmw and porsche drivers doing the same to them.

the difference when driving my fit versus my other car is striking...so i know this is not just in my head.

fit = rodney dangerfield.

This is absolutely true.

It only bothers you if you care though. I usually just look at them when I pull up to them at the next red light over and over again.

As far as cutting in, you have to be strategic in your placement and following distance as well as braking. You are right though, many people pick me to try, many fail. 90% of drivers are 100% predictable just by watching how the car is moving. I know what you're going to do before you even think of doing it. If you've driven sub-compacts most of your life this is a learned behavior.

When I drive my wife's car, which is fullsize, nobody tries me at all.

If your car looks like you'll be afraid to hit anything with it, people are ging to move in because they think you'll make room.
If your car's looks make them afraid to be hit by you, you'll get given more space.

It's all predictable and can be worked with. A louder horn is a couple spots away on my List Of Things To Do.

Maybe, but there are more and more of these little critters out here in the country. My neighbor is driving around in an '09 base Fit. There are two more just like ours within fifteen miles, and a couple of red ones. They're not the oddball cars they were five years ago.

Most people here in the country are too polite to cut us off, but anyone who wants the right-of-way can have it, as far as I'm concerned.

Cheers.

I experienced the HEIGHT of "Rodney Dangerfield"-ism this last weekend at a QuikTrip. If you can imagine this, I was in the middle lane (the "both directions turn lane") on a 4 lane road in the process of turning left into QT, when some twenty-something young lady in an Audi passed me on the right and cut right in front of me to turn left into the QT ahead of me (from what was not a turn lane), making me slam on my brakes.

This was also a day when every single stall was taken -- apparently EVERYONE's fill-up time. I finally found one, but because of which side it was, it necessitated my backing into it. I went a bit past and started to back up, and guess who came tearing around the corner to slip in right ahead of me? Yep, same jerk in the Audi. And she definitely saw me because she had this big fecal-consuming grin as she was getting out as if she had just scored one. Pretty unbelievable behavior -- twice in 5 minutes.

For maximum effect, maybe a "scare the crap out of the perpetrator" kind of horn would be ideal.

Hornblasters would be great, but they're a little out of my price range. I'll be doing the 130dB FIAMM 72102 and 72112 for $15 each off Amazon.

That's not the fault of the Fit, I would guess; rather, that's just someone being a rude, inconsiderate jerk. I suspect she would have done much the same thing to anybody if she felt she could possibly get away with it. At least you had a little car that can stop in time to avoid a collision; I not infrequently see cars cutting in front of vehicles like semi trucks, apparently unaware of how much longer it takes them to stop or turn in an emergency.
