Sales numbers for August 2006

2,394 Fits sold in August?!?! Last month it was 3,135, in June it was 3,747, and in May it was 5,248. With declining numbers each month, will sales for December be zero? Honda simply doesn't care whether or not this car sells in America.

It's not that the car isnt selling. It's just that they can't get them into the country fast enough. They are on track to keep (revised) projected numbers.

Right on. It isn't like there are loads of unsold Fits sitting on dealer lots. They sold the initial batch immediately, and have been selling every NADM Fit they can make, usually before it leaves the factory. What is the problem with that?

Remember, the Fit is also one of the best selling cars in Japan, so Honda has to try to maintain production for both domestic and export markets. And I believe the USA is not the only country to which Honda exports Fits to.

There was a ford explorer and i was right of him. the passenger started screatming a questin at me, so i turned off the volume of my music. then he asked about my car: what size engine. does it have turbo? mileage. "its only been around 6 months , right?", etc.

Wrong. The Honda Canada and Honda USA sales figures are seperate. Nice to see we are getting more of them, but not surprising considering how Canadians love hatchbacks.

I don't remember the details of the original press release where Honda stated that they were cutting production of Fits from 50k to 42k.

Was this for North America or just US? If it was just US, I don't remember seeing any figures seperating the two countries.

In fact the USA was one of the last countries to get the Jazz/Fit. Japan was first (of course). We have had the Jazz in the UK since the end of 2002. Our dealers too have a quota and can sell all they can get their hands on.

The way that Honda deals with that is by using the simple free market trick of supply and demand - it is recognised as the best in its class so it is the most expensive and you don't get discounts. The good thing is also that it keeps it price very well when you come to sell it.

But Honda wants to sell Civics where they make mor $'s. They can make the Civic in the US, and it won't take away from a Jap. Fit sale, so that way they get 2 car sales. The main reason they reluctently introduced the Fit here was to counter the Scion, the Versa, etc.so Honda would be the 'B' class leader, and they could control Civic sales slippage to the Fit by limiting Fit imports. You would do the same thing if you were managing Honda from a world-wide prospective.

That too! We need another mid-east war or some natural disasters to knock out oil refinery production both of which are not far out of the question.

Sold out

I want a Vivid Blue Sport Automatic. Two came in yesterday. I went to go buy the first one and it sold before i got there. I went to go buy the second one the same day. Sold before i got there. Both dealers within 15 minutes of my house. Both dealers wanted $500. NON-refundable deposits over the phone. I refused. Now i'm hating life.

Compare Yaris and Fit sales numbers – Did Honda drop the ball?
http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/a.../05/c2959.html

Toyota seemed to be aware that there would be a demand for small cars in the U.S. and Canada when they replaced the Echo with the Yaris. The Fit's numbers aren't even close. Is the Yaris selling in Europe and Japan? Is Honda focusing on the Jazz instead because of the ongoing popularity of small cars overseas? The Indiana plant may or may not be churning out 2008 Fits, but if not, at least maybe it will free up production space somewhere else.

LOL!!!

A third dealer just called me.
Yet another Blue Sport Automatic available.
Unfortunitly it had 25 miles on it already.
I told him i wasnt in the market for a 'used' car,
and that i've never bought a new car with more
than 5 miles on it.

He laughed and said 'used'?

I said 'yea used, ALL USED UP, just like you!', and i promptly hung up on him.

I then laughed at the memory of the call for like 20 minutes.
Whata loser!

You didn't buy it because it had 25 miles on it?

Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.
