Will the Fit be a 500$ car in the future.

I see 20 year old Hondas selling for 500 bucks around here and it makes me think the Fit will be there one day. 7 years down 13 to go.
Pretty much the same around here too. I still see some 3rd gen civics running around from time to time. What I see the most though more than any other Honda are the 4th gen 1990-1993 year accords.
in twenty years the fit will probably be 10,000 cuz when mine officially dies its getting k swapped lol but yes i guarantee someday you'll find a gd3 for 500 bucks on the side of the road with 400,000 miles and a missing door
In CA, if it's a Honda it's automatically at least $1000 even if it runs like crap and is beat to hell. If it's in good shape with lowish (relative) mileage even late 90's - 00 Civics go for 1500-3000
So no, I don't think the Fit will ever be the Pontiac Grand Prix of the future. At least out here, where you CAN buy a old GM for $500 pretty easily.

Hopefully the driver door! That would make getting in and out a lot easier. I hope there are a lot of $500 Fits running around because then I'd be getting me an additional one because the second and third generation body styles are blech.
I haven't been in the used market for a long time until recently when I was helping my niece find a car. We were seeing 13 year old cars with 170,000+ miles for $4,000 or more.
So if it will be a long time before you see a Fit go for $500. Unless it's crashed.

I still drive my 1997 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport Wagon (It is 18yrs old. Purchased late 1996 New).
Also, I drive a 1989 Subaru XT6 (25yrs old! Love this car). Matter of fact, it's at work with me now. Purchased it for $500, 10yrs ago.
Around Chicago , it's rare to see vehicles over 15 years old as daily drivers. If you do, it usually looks like a refugee from the salvage yard. If you have an older vehicle around here, the joke is not to leave anything in the trunk, it might fall out through a rust hole.
I'm sure I can't get even close to that with my '97 Corolla with about 155,000 miles. KBB says to possibly expect $400 for saying it's in fair condition and about $700 for good condition. Although, I'm sure it would resell for plenty more.
yo used victoria
There was a Honda Civic 1987 with 230,000km for $350 and my co worker scooped it up for $200. New water pump, and rad from a scrap yard, plus some plugs, distributor, oil change and some zap straps for the bumper he is now 600 into it and its been running for over a year

My local dealership is selling a 2008 Fit Sport with almost 97000miles/155100kms for almost $10000USD (not including tax, title, licensing). Granted, that is the dealership price and a lower price could be had through a private sale, but still. At that rate it will take another 20 years to get down to $500USD.
Personally i don't think many of the modern cars would even last that long, they are becoming increasingly complex and expensive to maintain with soo many extra things to break im thinking these cars will get junked as soon as something expensive comes up for repairs 12years down the line. In particular the GDI engined cars come to mind as they arent quiet reliable just yet. Fits in particular seem to have a very high resale value, ive seen 2007 Fits with 150k miles still asking $8.5k and 2009 GE's for $10k with 100k+ miles.
