I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, and/or this info is common knowledge. But today while stuck on heavy traffic on my way to NYC, I looked at my ScanGauge and saw coolant temperatures in the 211F range a lot, and whenever I turned on the AC to cool myself off, I saw temperatures rapidly drop to 179F. This is because the AC fan covers nearly 50% of the radiator's surface. Just thought I'd share this "find" with the community.
