does anyone know?
I live in Washington state, and have been trying to find a fit for months. Tried everywhere in Northwest, and no luck. Finally resorted to ordering one, and now they are telling me that Honda is no longer making manual trans in these cars, does anyone know if this is really true, or what the deal is. Heart set on 5spd, and don't know what to do/
After waiting for almost 4 months, my dealer told me the same - Honda is temporarily suspending production of Manuals. They got me a Red one in their next allocation, which supposedly is among the last manuals built for now. I believe my dealer, since I've had a relationship with them for about 20 years now, but no one could confirm their story.
Good luck.

Good luck.

They originally told me it was temp, and now are telling me its for good. I don't know if they can't get one, or what, but good to know you heard the same. I have never driven one, and am very leary of getting a auto, but if I have no other option, is the Fit worth it?
I liked the auto that I test drove. For an automatic, it was peppy and responsive. But, I'm a manual tranny diehard. Having finally driven a manual Fit ( a friend's) I'll be glad I waited.
You might want to check out the thread on the LONG comparison between the Auto and manual.

This is bad news.
I hope it's not permanent.
Maybe there are issues with quality.
Could there be a parts shortage? That would be better than a recall on Manual transmissions.
Maybe that's why we see so many more AT than MT.
OK, bring on the CVT already.

There have been a lot of posts on this. My dealer told me there was a problem with the MT supplier and they wouldn't have any.
Many MT Fits have been sold since then. I think they are telling stories because they don't want people waiting for an MT, they want to make the sale so they push the AT. MT is very rare. I would call every dealer and try to get one to take a deposit on the car you really want. I did this for weeks and finally got a quick and easy deal at less than $200 over MSRP, which was a great deal at the time as most were paying $1000-2000 over MSRP! I dealt with Klein Honda and they were great about everything except the MT tale. (I wanted an AT anyway as my daughter will be learning to drive soon-ish.) I have heard good things about the dealership in Bellingham. You have to be willing to wait for this car and you can't expect a test drive. (I have some friends wanting one too but are expecting to be able to test drive one or two and have been wainting since Spring!) Good luck shopping for this great little car!

I was told by a dealer that in order to order a m/t they had to sell so many other hondas. So guess you best bet is to go to your bggest honda dealer in your area and try there. There was also an allocation on the m/t sell so many autos and were allowed a m/t.

Good luck shopping for this great little car!I called every dealer, I am now dealing with bob halls in Yakima, I thought they were wonderful, but am now having my doubts. I hate the dealership in the tricities, they are the most rude people I have ever met, I don't know how they sell cars. Everyone told me I have to order one the way I want it. I want blaze orange with the 16 and a mt. I called honda customer service direct today, and she told me that she has no memo for stop production, but also told me that I could not order a car direct, I am getting the run around, and am very frustrated. Oh yeah and they org. told me no dealer mark up, then when they tried to do paper work ( mind you the car won't be here until Jan. if I order the auto) they charged me $1500.00 don't know what to do.
Coggin Honda here in FL has 3 Fits in 5speed. 1 base VBP, 1 Sport VBP, and one Lunar Mist. With prices starting at 17,700 Im sure they'll be there for a while. The one that they were trying to make me buy that night was on the lot for over a month they said. Rare for a Fit.
Carmax still has (I think) that silver one in 5speed. Used Fit Sport for $18,000.
The cars are rare and people know it. Try talking to head managers or internet sales managers as pointed out before. Sales people dont really know.
I had to keep checking in weekly at my dealer to make sure I was getting my 5speed before ANYONE else and that my name was top on the list since I was the first waiting for a 5speed.
Sure enough, its coming in. Not my top color but its my 2nd choice.

i wonder what the resale value will be on the 5spd...i really had a few choices of color to pick out that were all 5spd
crazy that it is close to impossible to get one

Yeah, you CAN'T order direct but dealers know what is coming about a month in advance. They get a list with little tiny AT or MT next to the color. They should get 3-5 cars per month each and some are bound to be MT eventually. It is a weird game but the dealers can't take orders and just sell what they get. You could try to put your 'marker' or even a refundable deposit on the car you want (after you settle on a decent price) and the dealers can trade around with each other to get what you want. It may help you get a car faster if you're flexible on color. I wanted orange, silver, or black--in that order. Settled for black when it came in and it looks great.
I have gotten the run around, and now after talking to two dealers who originally told me that i would pay msrp "1865.00" after the wheels, and the dealer delivery fee, when we started looking at financing, all of them told me 19995.00 plus wheels. (at least 1000.00) so I am going to hold out, and hopefully get better news when I try again in Jan. I heard another rumor that Honda will widely release this vehicle in December. I don't know if its true or not, but maybe will have better luck then. Right now I am super frustrated, and don't want to talk to another sales person for a really long time.
