I have owned my blue fit sport about 15 weeks now. It was stolen out of the Ontario Mills mall, Ontario, CA, Saturday night. Yeterday I received a call from Arizona Sate Police saying they had my Lic. Plates, no car just plates! Today the car was located on Pima Rd. Scottsdale, AZ. with the exception of both Driver and Passenger side bags missing; all appears well, so I am told.

Sorry about your car being stolen. That sucks.

Did they have the key to the car? I thought the car could not be started w/o the chip in the key.

How did your car get stolen to begin with? Doesn't the immobilizer prevent people from driving too far?

fit stolen
Don't know, have not got it back. Car was locked, I had possesion of both keys-all that was taken was the airbags (driver/passenger)- even left a new Magellan GPS sitting there. AZ state police said the market is for hot for bags, especially new models. I told him as was surprized they could steal it, he sort of laughed and said they can pretty much get any car.

Its probably all they saw worth stealing? If the car is stock Im sure the only real thing people may steal would be the rims. I have a feeling the Fit wheels will be the new age EK Si wheels. I already know someone that wants mine.

We all remember how hot Si wheels were. Hell; they still are! I find Si's ugly.

Its really going to suck if the fit becomes the new eg civic.(stolen all the time.) I want one, but I know how much it sucks to get your car stolen. Woke up fourth of July to EG civ starting and driving away. Caught the car but the bastard who stole it got away on foot.

Fit- on its way home
I should get my car back late today- Insurance is flat bedding it home for repairs.(I think that's how it got to AZ) Police told me the bags are most likely already part of another Fit. However because the bags are a Safety critical item, they are actually coded and Honda could tell which bag was put in which car and when. Seems they have to do this for Re-call reasons. So, although unlikely, if the vehicle they are now in, ever gets involved in an accident requiring the bag replacement, they could at-least determine that the body shop that had done the repair had used stolen parts. Again I'm kind of screwed either way- I wish I really knew for sure how they got it.

The immobilzer does little to stop a professional thief from stealing the car.

I cant think of any reason why the Fit would be stolen more than other Hondas though. None of its part really fit other Hondas (unlike Integras -> Civics etc).
