Question The "New" Car Thief?

Maybe the new breed of car snatchers are tired of paying the high $$ of fuel too, so are lookin for the best rated mpg cars!

Sorry to hear about your car and the air bags lost.

Thieves are stealing not only airbags but also xenon head lights.

Somehow with very small numbers of FITs it would not seem likely that the FIT would be a major target for professional thieves. Why wouldn't they go after easy targets that pay more?

Since they took only the airbags it might have been that they got interupted before they could remove more things- in that case you are lucky.

In any case you have your FIT back and it's easy enough to replace the airbags.

got my Fit back !

Got my stolen Fit back from Rock Honda last night- new airbags- car seem to running fine- It's a little strange driving it after who knows who took it for this little adventure. The tech told me this was definetly a "Pro job"- connector cables seperated at the "quick connect" points, rather then simply a cut/yank and run deal, and the cable ends were actually neatly folded and tucked back in-almost it seemed, to avoid any further damage- glad they were thoughtful. Either way he said the folks who did this knew exactly what they were doing.

Wow, you're the luckiest guy!! That's unbelievable that someone that skilled and meticulous would be involved in stealing cars......I would imagine it would definitely feel strange to know that some unknown person had been behind the wheel of YOUR car.....kind of like the feeling when you've had your house broken into too - wondering if they had touched all of your stuff or looked through you drawers.....yuck!! In any event, I'm happy you got it back and it all turned out so well!!

Are you going to add anything to the car to prevent this from happening again?

Here's a good question-
Does your car insurance company think it was an inside job?
Somebody at a dealership with knowledge how to get a FIT working with professionals to steal one then take only what they needed allowing the FIT to be found and returned then fixed?

I'd be careful about anyone that might be using you to get FIT parts.
Naturally if this happens again one would be very suspicious so they may hit another FIT. Check with police in your area for this MO by professionals done in recent months.

Something about your story is not adding up. How neat and clean the job was, that they stole it then hauled it that far and took only specific parts.

Just something to consider.

Crazy kids steeling airbags to get high. Bah!!! Back in my day we just ground up license plates and smoked 'em!

That has to be the most bizarre theft I've ever heard of, other than my friends Honda getting nabed, chopped, set on blocks, cut in half and then set on fire.

Glad yours turned out better.

Good luck with that.

Shoot the guy taking the air bags and tell me who ends up with more jail time. Come to think of it, with the legal system the way it is, you'd probably get life and the airbag thief would probably never even spend a night in jail!

I would definitely check with your detective. Even if one wanted a Honda Fit Airbag, it would have to be ordered from Japan. I doubt any 3rd party retails especially would carry STOCK airbags when dealers barely even have stock parts for our cars!

Keep us posted please!
