Talking Air Bag Issues

I just purchased an '07 Fit Sport. I know the car was hit in the front and the airbags were blown and replaced. When I turn on the key, the air bag light never illuminates. Any thoughts? I wish the light was on so I could truobleshoot the problem.

The place that fixed it probably took out the bulb so they could sell it without fixing it. Better make sure you actually have an airbag.

That is a very common coverup by cut rate repair / rebuild shops. Replacement Air Bags are expensive. I would definitely make sure if there are even air bags installed.

If that car has a rebuilt title then in most states it had to go through a state inspection prior to issuing the repaired title. If you are missing the air bag(s) you might be able to go back to the state and file a complaint.

The first thing is to go put a new bulb in the air bag light. Then read the SRS (air bag) codes.

Good luck

I know years ago they use to sell dummy airbags, I wonder if that is the case. I've been reading that if the airbags deploy, the computer has to be replaced or rebuilt?

I really have very little experience in this area soI'm not much help. The only one I have ever worked on was a bad clockspring the the steering column of a Chevy Colorado. I also did replace a front impact switch in a Chevy Blazer once that was intermittently throwing codes.
