Interesting tidbit for MA/CT members

And I am referring to buying tires online through Tirerack.

I ordered a set of General Altimax RT43's for my Fit and there was a ~$50 shipping charge to which I cringed a little bit. I then found out that they have a distribution center (perhaps the only one?) in Windsor, CT, so you can order them online and then pick them up yourself and save the shipping charges.

So if Windsor is close enough to you (35 miles away from me), I think it would be worth while with only downfall being they are only open Monday-Friday. I was not able to pick mine up as I just started a new job and wasn't going to take time off from work just to pick up tires.

$50= two tanks of gas!!

(I still got a set of 4 tires for $311)

Been there plenty of times! Not too bad of a drive, about 45 minutes for me.

I just realized that they are sending the wrong size. I used the "car/tire finder" but it had the wrong size listed and I inadvertently ordered the wrong size. Lesson learned is I should have checked first.

Any way, I only ordered them yesterday. How are they to deal with in correcting an order?

Call them up, before they put the tires on the truck and it heads off to the carrier origin terminal. if you catch them in time, you can stop it from shipping with the wrong size tires.
